Dean Erickson
Feb. 19, 1946-Oct. 9, 2020
Dean M. Erickson was
born in Minot, N.D. on
February 19, 1946, to
Nelfred and Gladys Erick-
son of Carpio, North
Dakota. He attended Car-
pio Public School and
later took the train each
week to trade school in
Fargo. Dean was well
known for his strong work
ethic and being a jack of
all trades. He had a great
sense of humor and was
excellent at reading lips
due to his hearing loss.
Later in life he was able to
get a Cochlear implant
which allowed him to
hear better.
Over his career he
worked as a mechanic,
carpenter and a
roughneck on the rigs
during the oil “boom” in
the 1980’s. Early in their
marriage he and his then
wife Joan, ran a small gas
station and restaurant in
Donnybrook, ND. He re-
tired from Terhorst
Manufacturing in Minot,
ND leaving him more time
to do what he loved.
Dean was an avid fish-
erman, hunter and out-
doorsman. He loved being
out on the lake in summer
and ice fishing in the
winter. Dean also enjoyed
riding his
Harley-Davidson motorcy-cle and made several trips
with friends to Sturgis, SD
for the big bike rally there.
One of his favorite drives
was through Spearfish
Canyon, SD.
Dean passed away
peacefully in his sleep on
Friday, October 9th as a
resident of Minot Health
& Rehab. He will be
missed and remembered
dearly by his family and
friends.
The family plans to
hold a service in the sum-
mer of 2021 to remember
and celebrate Dean’s life.
