Schieve, Minot, formerly
of Douglas, ND, died Sun-
day, September 27, 2020
on her 98th birthday in a
Minot hospital.
Lucille M. Stutzman
was born on September
27, 1922, one of twelve
children born to David
and Emma (Jausi) Stutz-
man in Cario, Nebraska.
She was raised and edu-
cated in Cario.
On July 9, 1945, she
was united in marriage to
Gerhardt E, Schieve in
Lincoln, Kansas. They
made their home in Cario,
NE, until 1949, when they
moved to Douglas, ND
with their daughter Bar-
bara. In 1949, they started
Schieve’ s Service in
Douglas, ND, owning and
operating the gas station
and repair station until
1989 when she and
Gerhardt retired. While
living in Douglas, Lucille
made sure to always plant
a huge garden every year.
In 1991, they moved to
Minot, ND. Gerhardt died
January 27, 2000, follow-
ing his death, Lucille
remained in Minot. She
obtained her drivers
license at the age of 79.
Lucille and Gerhardt
loved to travel and on
several occasions they
took their grandchildren
on many of their trips.
The grandchildren
remember these trips
fondly. One of Lucille’s
favorite trips was when
she and Gerhardt traveled
to Alaska.
While living in Douglas,
Lucille was a member of
St. Paul’s Lutheran
Church of Douglas, until
it’s closure, then became a
member of St. Matthew
Lutheran Church in Max,
ND. While living in
Minot, she was an active
member of St. Paul’s
Lutheran Church, Minot,
ND. In the 1960’s Lucille
began bowling, and at-
tended several city, state
and national tournaments.
She continued to bowl
until the closure of North
Hill Bowl due to Co-
vid-19.

Lucille was preceded in
death by: her parents,
husband Gerhardt, grand-
daughter Elizabeth Chris-
tianson, and seven si-
blings:
