Gary Roebuck
With heavy hearts we
announce the passing of
Gary Roebuck on Sept 5,
2020 at the age of 79. Gary
was a North Dakota native
who graduated from Velva
HS and Minot State
University, and went on
to earn two master’s de-
grees from St. Cloud State
University and Northern
Arizona University. He
married his sweetheart
Jane of 57 years.
A sports-enthusiast,
Gary’s career led him to
Fessenden, ND, Holding-
ford, MN and Benson, AZ
holding many positions
including Teacher, Coach,
Athletic Director, Career
Counselor & Dean of Stu-
dents. In his tenure as a
football coach, he led his
teams to many victories,
played in several playoffs
and won a Minnesota
State Football Champion-
ship. Gary was named the
Minnesota Football Coach
of the Year, served as the
President of the Minneso-ta Coaches’ Association,
and was a Hall of Fame
inductee.
Gary enjoyed countless
rounds of golf and trav-
eled the state watching
his multi-sport grandchil-dren. A talented carpenter
by hobby and occasional
prankster, Gary was a
man of strong values who
will be missed by many.
He is survived by: his
loving wife Jane Roebuck,
son Jeff (Gina) Roebuck,
daughter Renee Roebuck,
and grandchildren Tiana,
Tyler, and Blake, as well
as his sister Karen Irwin,
brother Gene (Karolyn)
Roebuck, and many
nieces, nephews, and
cousins.
He is preceded in death
by: parents Clinton and
Louise Roebuck.
A celebration of life will
be planned for a later
date.
