Virgil Dinga, 86,
Bismarck, ND, formerly of
Butte, ND, passed away
Wednesday, July 1, 2020,
at Missouri Slope Care
Center in Bismarck.
Virgil Verl Dinga was
born October 9, 1933, the
son of Luke and Dorothy
(Lushenko) Dinga, in
Kongsberg, ND. He was
raised on a farm near
Kongsberg. For the first 8
years, he was educated in
a country school and then
attended Butte High
School from 1947-1951.
Virgil enlisted in the
United States Air Force in
1952. He proudly served
his country during the
Korean War. Virgil was
stationed in Tripoli, Libya
and then stateside in San
Antonio, TX. He was
honorably discharged
1956.
Virgil attended the
North Dakota State School
of Science in Wahpeton,
ND, for one quarter.
Virgil married Linda
Faye Bauer on September
20, 1958, at Holy Spirit
Catholic Church in Butte.
They made their home on
a farm in Kongsberg,
where they raised their
four children: Myron,
Rhonda, Byron and Ryan.
Virgil began farming
with his father in 1958
and continued until 1983.
He then worked construc-tion for a few years until
going to work for Com-
bined Insurance in 1987
until his retirement.
Virgil and Linda moved
to Bismarck in 2015 and
remained there until their
time of passing.
Virgil was a member of
Holy Spirit Catholic
Church of Butte and St.
Cecilia Catholic Church of
Velva, ND
He was also very active
in the Butte American Le-
gion Post 270, where he
was a member for over 55
years. He served as the
Post Commander, adju-
tant for over 26 years, was
a member of the color
guard, and managed the
Legion baseball team. Vir-
gil was also active in the
40 Hommes Et 8 Chevaux,
40/8, Voiture 148 in
Minot, ND. He held the
office of Grand Chef De
Gare from 1976-1977.
Virgil enjoyed hunting
and fishing with his fami-
ly and friends. Virgil and
Linda also loved watching
their children and
grandchildren participate
in sports.

and Ryan Dinga, Minot;
grandchildren, Jessica (Ja-

toria) Dinga, Nicole (Gar-
rett) Hartl, Kris (Brittaney)
Kingsley, Shantel (Chad)
Burrer, Magen (Jordan)
Buchholz, Chase Dinga,
Nathan (Abbie) Dinga,
Danielle Dinga and Sa-
mantha Dinga;
great-grandchildren, Kel-
lan Brett, Hunter and
Hailee Dinga, Lucas,
Drake and Easton Hartl,
Brynlee and Kambryn
Kingsley, Olivia and Caleb
Burrer, and Madilyn, Mar-
ley and Beckett Buchholz;
brothers-in-law, Mel-
bourne (Becky) Bauer,
Firestone, CO, and Del-
bert (Delphine) Bauer,
Butte; and numerous
nieces, nephews and
cousins.
Virgil was preceded in
death by: his parents,
Luke and Dorothy; wife of
59 years, Linda Dinga; sis-
ters, Ardella Ferrel and
Geraldine Bauer; and his
brother, Alvin Dinga.
Celebrating the Life of

as cremation has taken
place.
A Memorial Mass of
Christian Burial will take
place at a future date. A
