Mary L. Wright, 90,
San Antonio, TX formerly
of Minot, died Saturday,
June 27, 2020 in a San
Antonio nursing home.
Mary was a devout
Christian born March 23,
1930 in Shreveport, LA to
John and Amanda (Fur-
nell) Thomas. As a young
adult, she worked in
Shreveport as a veterinary
assistant in a local clinic.
Mary was united in
marriage to James E.
Wright, a member of the
US Air Force, who was
stationed at Barksdale Air
Force Base, in Shreveport,
LA. In 1958, they moved
to Minot, ND, when her
husband was transferred
to Minot Air Force Base.
Mary worked at St.
Joseph’s Hospital as a
nurse’s aide.
In 1966, she moved
with her husband to Bit-
burg AFB in Germany.
They returned to Minot in
1970. She partnered with
her husband to own and
operate a gas
station/restaurant on
Minot South Hill for a
couple of years. Following
the sale of the business,
they purchased The East
Wind Cafe by the fair
grounds. Mary completed
her working days at Trini-
ty Hospital.
In 2011, she moved to
San Antonio to live with
her daughter Betty and
her son in law Andrew.
She remained there until
sustaining a stroke in No-
vember of 2019. Follow-
ing her hospital stay she
became a resident of a
care facility until her
passing.
Mary was a member of
the VFW Auxiliary in
Minot. She loved to fish
and hunt, in all types of
weather. She also enjoyed
spending time in the gar-
den. She was an avid sup-
porter of the Minot Com-
munity and Our
Redeemer’s Christian
School, where she spent
time mentoring students.
She always had time to
talk with others and give
outstanding advice when
needed.
Mary is survived by her
daughter Betty L. Willi-
ams, son in law, Andrew
H. Williams, her grand-
sons’ Mark A. Williams
(Mindy) and Jason A. Wil-
liams (Isabel), and great
granddaughter Victoria A.
Williams.
Mary was preceded in
death by her parents, hus-
band James, brothers
Robert and James, three
nephews, and several
cousins.

11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July
7, 2020 in Section 28 of
Rosehill Memorial Park,
Minot, ND.
