LJ Wells

Sept. 2, 2000-July 7, 2020

On July 7th, 2020, LJ

Wells from Granville, ND,

passed away peacefully in

his home surrounded by

his loved ones.

Joseph Lee “LJ” Wells II

was born September 2,

2000, in Rock Springs,

WY, to Jenny (Elliott)

Wells and Joseph Wells.

From the very beginning,

LJ showed his strength

and determination as he

suffered many health is-

sues at a young age.

The family later moved

to Arizona and then back

to Wyoming and after his

parents’ divorce, LJ made

his home in North Dakota.

After his first day at TGU

Granville, LJ knew he

wanted to spend the

remainder of his school

years there.

LJ had an incredible

passion for all sports,

especially football. From

the time he was a little

boy he could recite foot-

ball stats like no other. He

played football and

basketball all through his

high school career.

Although he was always

the smallest guy on the

field, he portrayed more

strength and determina-

tion for the game than

many other players. And

throughout his long battle

with cancer, showed the

same strength and deter-

mination. His size only

made him believe that he

had to work that much

harder. LJ was also part of

FFA, Student Council,

Science Olympiad and the

Honor Society. He had a

love for knowledge and an

even greater love for his

friends and the TGU

faculty.

LJ went on to attend the

North Dakota State

University in Fargo and

completed his first year of

college. He planned to

study Education and later

return to TGU to teach

and coach football and

basketball. He spent the

better half of his first

semester incredibly sick,

but that didn’t stop him

from completing his

courses, spending time

with his beloved

girlfriend and even being

part of the NDSU Bison

Football film crew, again

showing what strength

and determination were

all about. His second

semester was spent meet-

ing new people, making

friends, and having the

chance to experience the

“college life.”

To know LJ was to

know one of the most in-

spiring people ever. His

contagious smile and

quick wit never made a

person feel like they were

meeting a stranger. His

circle of friends proves

that as there are many,

young or old from all over

the country. He loved life,

America and especially

North Dakota. Our long

drives to and from Fargo

for treatment really made

him realize how deep his

love for his home really

was. He was always in

awe of the beauty of this

state.

LJ is survived by: his
