Harland Starling Bol-
kan, 94, Minot, formerly
of Parshall, passed away
Friday, June 26, 2020 at
Trinity Homes in Minot.
Harland was born June
8, 1926 at Raub, to Ru-
dolph and Clara (Foreng)
Bolkan, the youngest of
eight children. He attend-
ed Spring Valley and
Parshall schools, graduat-
ing from Parshall High
School in 1944. After high
school Harland started
farming and worked for a
period of time in Wash-
ington state on a dam and
railroad project. On
February 3, 1956, he was
united in marriage to
Theresa Gange in Minot.
The couple made their
home in Parshall, where
Harland was a lifelong
farmer in the Raub and
Parshall area. After suffer
ing a stroke in June of
2018, he had been a
resident of Trinity Homes.
Harland is survived by:
his wife, Theresa Bolkan,
Minot; daughter, Waverly
(Allen) Hagen, Auburn,
WA; sons, Rory Bolkan,
Mandan and Terry Bol-
kan, Parshall; grandsons,
Starling Bolkan, Mesa, AZ
and Ryan Hagen, Seattle;
step-granddaughters,
Sable Coffey, New Town
and Selah (Dana) Graff,
Tama, Iowa; as well as
many nieces and
nephews.
Harland was preceded
in death by: his parents;
brothers, Marvin and Clif-
ford; and sisters, Violet,
Delpha, Lela, Dora and
Fern.
Visitation: Tuesday,
June 30, 2020 from 2:00 to
5:00 PM in Langhans Fun-
eral Home, Parshall.
Interment: St Bridget
Catholic Cemetery,
Parshall.
Memorials are preferred
to the Alzheimer’s Associ
ation in memory of Har-
land.
