Fred D. Voeller, 101
years of age, San Antonio,
TX, formerly of Minot,
ND, passed away on May
11, 2020. He was sur-

home of his son, Jim
Voeller, San Antonio, TX.
Fred Voeller was born
July 22, 1918 in Rugby,
ND to Ignatius and Caro-

brother to 15 siblings. He
attended country school
and graduated from Rug-
by High School. Fred was
drafted into the Army in
July of 1941, completed
basic training at Fort Snel-

then assigned to the 44th
Artillery Unit of the 4th
Infantry Division during
World War II in the Euro-
pean Theatre, fought in
the Invasion of Normandy
and the Battle of the
Bulge, and was honorably
discharged in 1945.
Following his military
service, Fred returned to
Minot in 1947 and started
his career in the furniture
business alongside his
brother, Roy Voeller. In
1957, Fred became the
sole owner of Voeller’s
Furniture and by 1965
had expanded his busi-
ness to include furniture
stores in Minot and Rug-
by, ND. Eventually, Fred
consolidated to two stores
in Minot; Family Furni-
ture and Voeller’s Furni-
ture City, which is the
current location of
Conlin’s Furniture. Fred
retired in 1982.
Fred married Catherine
“Kaye” Cuff on Dec. 28,
1948 at St. Leo the Great
Catholic Church, Minot
and they began their fami-
ly of six children in 1950.
Fred and Kaye were active
members of St. Therese of
the Little Flower and later

Fred was acknowledged
as one of Minot’s most

years, he took his children

trips throughout the US
and around the world.
Family meant everything
to Fred and because of
this, Fred and Kaye took
their children on many
memorable family vaca-
tions and in fact, he was
instrumental in taking all
his children, grandchil-
dren and great grandchil-
dren to Mexico and Flori-
da in recent years. Be-
cause of our love and ad-
miration for him, our fam-
ily tried to gather yearly
to celebrate his life. In
1981, Fred and Kaye be-
gan to spend the winter
months in the Florida
Keys and later in Naples,
FL. The couple ultimately
settled in San Antonio,
TX to be closer to family.
Kaye passed away in
2013. Fred loved to play
tennis and golf, which he
did well into his 90’s. He
was also very competitive

proved this by sky diving
