Rodney D. Haugen

Rodney D. Haugen, 68,

Minot and longtime gen-

eral contractor, died

Thursday, March 26, 2020

in a Minot hospital.

Rodney was born May

2, 1951 in Minot, ND to

Donna Mae Waswick. He

spent the first few years of

his life on the Waswick

family farm until moving

to California with his

mother. He attended

school in Salinas, CA,

where he graduated from

Alisal High School in

1969.

He returned to North

Dakota and assisted his

Uncle Lyle on the

Waswick family farm.

Rodney also attended

night classes to set his

roots in the construction

industry as a general con-

tractor. Rodney owned

and operated Minot Con-

struction for several de-

cades and spent 49 years

of his life in the construc-

tion industry. Rodney was

a subcontractor for the

Godfather’s Pizza fran-

chise, which lead to the

building of many loca-

tions throughout the

years. He also worked

many years as a subcon-

tractor for Countryside

Homes, Iseman Homes

and Liechty Homes, all of

Minot. Rodney also dee-

ply valued the gift of his

time and talent for the up-

keep of Rose Valley Luth-

eran Church over the

years.

Rodney was once unit-

ed in marriage to Sandra

Kerzman on April 5, 1986.

They made their home in

Minot and were blessed

with the birth of their

only daughter, Brooke.

Rodney was an active

outdoorsman, who lived

for fishing, no matter the

species. He hunted in his

younger days, enjoyed

riding motorcycle and

spent a fair amount of

time in his garden. He

moonlighted as a DJ for

many years as the owner

of Foxfire Ultimate

Sound, where he set the

mood for many weddings

and proms during his run.

Rodney loved cars and

was known to own a few

classics during his life-

time.

Everything took a back-

seat to his grandchildren.

They were the light of his

life and he always treas-

ured the valuable time he

spent with them. He will

be missed deeply by all

who were blessed to share

in his life.

Rodney is survived by:

his daughter Brooke

(Brent) Wallin, Minot;

grandchildren Jasper and

Mandy Wallin along with

numerous aunts, uncles

and cousins.

Rodney was preceded

in death by: his mother,

Donna Mae Hunt, mater-

nal grandparents Walter

and Inga Waswick and his

uncle Lyle Waswick, who

was like a father to him.

Due to COVID-19 res-

trictions, we will honor

Rodney’s Life with a

private family service at

11:00 a.m. Wednesday,

April 1, 2020 at Rose Val-

ley Lutheran Church, rur-

al Des Lacs, ND. A lives-
