Cecilia A. Howe, 84,
passed away peacefully
Saturday, March 21, 2020,
at the Souris Valley Care
Center in Velva, ND.
Cecilia Ann Schoenberg
was born May 20, 1935, in
East Fairview, ND, a
daughter of Cecil and
Anna (Bieber) Schoen-
berg. The family lived in
Savage, MT and Sawyer
ND for a short time, prior
to moving with her
parents to Benedict, ND in
1941, where she was
raised and educated in the
Ruso/Benedict area. She
attended high school in
Velva and worked at JC
Penney store in Velva
while going to school.
On November 14, 1952,
Cecilia was united in mar-
riage to Warren Howe in
Velva. They made their
home in Fort Leonard
Wood, MO while he was
in the service. On return-
ing to ND the couple lived
in Minot, where Cecilia
worked at JC Penney. In
September of 1957, War-
ren started work with
I.B.M. and the couple
moved to Bismarck for
five years before he was
transferred to Grand
Forks, where they made
their home for the next 26
years. Cecilia worked at
State Farm Insurance and
at Herbergers for several
years. Cecilia taught
ceramic classes out of
their home and also at the
Senior Citizen Center.
While in Grand Forks, she
was active in L.W.M.S. of
Immanuel Lutheran
Church. In 1985 they
moved to the family farm
at Ruso, ND. She was a
member of Oak Valley
Lutheran Church in Vel-
va, where she was active
in the women’s quilters,
and also a chairperson of
work groups. She was a
big help with the remo-
deling of the church
kitchen. In 2007 they
moved to Minot and
joined Our Saviors Luth-
eran Church in Minot.
Warren passed away June
9, 2014.
Cecilia enjoyed teach-
ing ceramics, sewing and
gardening. She was a lov-
ing wife, mother, grand-
mother, sister and friend
and will be missed by all
that knew her.
Surviving family in-
cludes: sons, Dwight
(Sharon) Howe and Kevin
(MaryJo) Howe; brothers,
Wayne (Rosie) Schoen-
berg and Lester (Laura)
Schoenberg; sister, Carol
Merck; grandchildren,
Scott (Kenzie) Howe,
Steve (Whitney) Howe,
Keith (Katelin) Howe, Eric
(Nichole) Howe, Tyler
(Charlene) Howe, Caitlyn
(Kris) Kanski, Curtis
Howe and Casey Howe,
great-grandchildren, Otto,
Noelle and Beck Howe,
Jasmine and Mason Howe,
Brekken and Rayne Kan-
ski, Devyn, Brody and
Ivory Howe; and
numerous nieces,
nephews and cousins also
survive.
Cecilia was preceded in
death by: her parents;
husband, Warren; son,
Clyde; infant daughter;
sisters, Marlene and
Violet and Dora; and
brother, George.
Celebrating the Life of

Visitation: will take
place Saturday, March 28,
2020, from Noon to 2:00
pm at Thompson-Larson
Funeral Home, Minot.
A Celebration of Life
Service will take placeat a
later date.
Interment: Sunset
Memorial Gardens, Minot,
ND.
Memorials: In lieu of
flowers, memorial are pre-
ferred to the Souris Valley
Care Center in Velva so
that they may purchase
IPad’s to play music for
their residents.
