William Larson

William “Bill” Kaey Lar-
son died Sunday, Febru-
ary 9, 2020, at Trinity
Nursing Home in Minot,
ND.
Bill was a lifelong
Minot resident born at
Trinity Hospital on De-
cember 13, 1925 to Willi-
am Konrad Larson and Al-
ice Pauline (Sylstad) Lar-
son. His great
grandparents, Carl and Eli
Larson, were early Mouse
River Valley pioneers and
his grandparents, Charles
and Margit Larson, were
the first marriage in the
valley. Bill attended
Nedrose Grade School on
Hwy 52 southeast of
Minot near the family
farm for grades 1 through
8 and graduated from
Minot High School in
1943. His confirmation
took place at First Luth-
eran Church in Minot.
He enlisted in the US
Navy on May 29, 1944
and went to boot camp at
Camp Waldron in Far-
ragut, ID. Bill’s assign-
ment was Seabees at Iwo
Jima from Feb. 1945 until
he was honorably
discharged June 4, 1946 in
Minneapolis, MN as an
electrician’s mate 3rd
class. Returning to Minot
he worked for Goodman
Farm and Electric wiring
farmhouses.
On April 2, 1947 he and
Corrine Grindy were mar-
ried at her home. He was
married to his sweetheart
for 69 years. In October
1947 Bill joined Northern
States Power Co. as a line-
man, using hooks and a
belt to climb poles. He
was promoted to superin-
tendent and retired March
1984. Community activi-
ties were Zion Lutheran
Church, Nedrose School
Board, Credit Union
Board, Elks, Golden K’s,
VFW, and American Le-
gion. During retirement
Bill traveled with their
fifth wheel, managed the
farm, volunteered for
Meals on Wheels, and was
a regular at the truck stop
for breakfast.
On November 3, 2007,
Bill was proudly escorted
by his son, Clint, on the
WDAY Honor Flight to
Washington, DC to honor
WW II veterans by visit-
ing the WW II Memorial
built in their honor.

(Kim), Minot, ND, sister:
Marjorie Agrey,
brothers-in-law: Kenneth
(Stella) Grindy and Lyle
(Carole) Grindy,
sister-in-law: Aldine Grin-
dy, six grandchildren,
three great grandchildren
and many nieces and
nephews.
He was preceded in
death by his wife, Cor-
rine, his parents and
brother Clinton.
Visitation will be on
Thursday, February 20,
2020 from 3:00 to 6:00 pm
at Thompson-Larson Fun-
eral Home, Minot.
Funeral service will be
at Zion Lutheran Church,
Friday, February 21, 2020
at 10:30 am with
Burial at Sunset
Memorial Gardens at
12:30 pm.
