Darlene Gates, 82,
Loraine, died Sunday,
Feb. 9, 2020, at a Mohall
nursing home.
She was born April 10,
1937, on the family farm
near Antler, to Ed and
Bertha (Stensland) Peter-
son. She attended the
Sherman Township
School and graduated
from Mohall High School
in 1955. She worked at
C&G Hardware in Mohall.
Marian was united in
marriage to Lloyd Gates
on Feb. 17, 1956. They
farmed in the summer
months and worked in
California during the
winter months. In 1962,
she attended beauty
school in Palo Alto, Calif.
When they returned to
Mohall in 1963, she start-
ed her beauty shop. She
owned and operated
Marian’s Magic Mirror for
35 years. After closing her
shop, she continued to fix
hair at the nursing home
and also the funeral
home. She and Lloyd
wintered in Arizona for
several years.
Marian was a member
of St. Jerome Catholic
Church, Mohall, the Red
Hat Society, and a former
member of the Mohall
Chamber of Commerce.
She enjoyed cooking, bak-
ing, trying new recipes,
golfing, slot machines in
Las Vegas and spending
time with her family and
friends. She loved caring
for others always wel-
comed others to be with
her or at their home. Her
door was always open and
welcome mat out. She
never worried how she
felt or the time it took; she
truly put others before
herself.

years, 11 months, 23 days,

Del (Vicky) Gates,
Loraine; grandchildren,
Parker Gates, Loraine,
Stevie (Jason) Hove, Tio-
ga, Chase Gates, Loraine;
great-granddaughter, Elsie
Hove; brother, Roy (Esth-
er) Peterson, Antler;
sister-in-law, Bev Peter-
son, Antler; and several
nieces, nephews and
cousins.
Marian was preceded
in death by: daughter,
Brenda Gates; brothers,
Everett “Buddie” Peterson
and Donald Peterson; sis-
ters, Ruth (Marv) Baska
and Delores (Laurence)
Mattern.
Funeral: 10:30 a.m., Sa-
turday, Feb. 15, 2020, at
St. Jerome Catholic
Church, Mohall.
Burial: Mohall Com-
munity Cemetery, Mohall,
in the spring.
Recitation of the
Rosary: 5 p.m., Friday,
Feb. 14, 2020, at the
church.
Visitation: Noon to 4
p.m., Friday, at Brose
Funeral Home, Mohall.
