Lawrence “Larry”
Pitner, 79, Minot, ND,
passed away Saturday,
February 8, 2020, in his
home.
Larry was born October
14, 1940, the son of and
Joseph and Regina (Susak)
Pitner, on the family farm
located in Eureka Town-
ship of Ward County,
north of Minot, ND. He
was raised on the family
farm and attended St.
Leo’s High School.
Larry married Barbara
L. Tyson November 3,
1962, at Our Lady of
Grace Catholic Church in
Minot. They made their
home in Minot, where he
worked at a service sta-
tion for a couple of years.
They then moved to the
Pitner family farm, where
they raised their children.
Together, they raised
dairy and beef cattle until
he retired in 2006. During
his younger years, he cus-
tomed combined and
showed horses. He broke
a team of Belgian Draft
Horses, which he put in
the ND State Fair Parade.
He was a man of many
talents and picked things
up quickly. He designed
and built a stock trailer
without any blueprints,
learned to do electrical
wiring, assisted his friend
Chet Reich with construc-tion jobs, laid linoleum
and built countertops. He
also helped at Jordahl’s
Animal Hospital and at
Sunset Memorial Gar-
dens.
He was a member of St.
John the Apostle Catholic
Church in Minot, the
Bohemian Lodge, and the
Eureka Township Board.
His loving family in-
cludes: wife of 57 years,
Barbara Pitner, Minot;
son, Michael Pitner,
Minot; daughter, Sheree
(Nathan) Dyke, Columbus,
OH; grandchildren, Ellie
(Jacob) Howton, and
Livia, Joshua, Benjamin
and Maria Dyke; brothers,
Joseph Pitner, Minot, and
John (Irene) Pitner, Minot;
sisters, Gladys Kraft,
Norwich, Joyce Bean,
Kansas City, MO, Joan
Lund, Minot; and
numerous nieces,
nephews and cousins.
Larry was preceded in
death by: his parents; son,
Lawrence “John” Pitner,
brother, Daniel Pitner; sis-
ter, Judy Pitner;
sister-in-law, Jackie
Pitner; brother-in-law,
Peter Kraft and Donald
“Hap” Lund.

ND.
