George Dennis Egge
passed away unexpected-
ly on February 4, 2020 in
a Lakeland, FL hospital.
Dennis was born March
27, 1942 in Bottineau, ND
to George and Edna
(Johnston) Egge. He at-
tended elementary school
in Omemee and graduated
as valedictorian from Bot-
tineau High School.
Growing up on a farm cul-
tivated his love of agricul-
ture. He earned his
Bachelor’s Degree in
Agronomy and his
Master’s Degree in Agri-
cultural Economics from
North Dakota State
University. In 1966 he
married the love of his
life, Georgia Porath.
Dennis lived a life of
service to God, family,
church, and community.
His faith in God was evi-
dent to all who knew him.
Spending time with his
wife, children, and
grandchildren was his
greatest joy. He and Geor-
gia served in many capa-
cities in their local
churches and in Latin
American missions.
Dennis worked as an
agricultural extension
agent in McLean(1967),
Benson(1969), and Ward
(1975) Counties in ND. He
enjoyed interacting with
farmers and the commun-ity through personal visits
and local media. His
awards included Out-
standing County Exten-
sion Agent of the Year,
State Soil Conservation
Professional of the Year,
and State Crop Improve-
ment Professional of the
Year. He also received the
ND Distinguished Service
Award for County Exten-
sion Agents. Dennis
served as President of the
ND County Extension
Agent Association, Re-
gional Director of the
Recognition and Awards
Committee of the National
County Extension Agents’
Association, and
President of Rotary Club.
In 1997, Dennis retired
and he and his wife
moved to Florida, spend-
ing their time traveling
and visiting family and
friends.
Dennis is survived by:
his wife Georgia of 53
years, his daughters Lau-
rie (Alan) Verbitsky of
Minot, ND and Shannon
(Will) Heaven of Ewa
Beach, HI,
daughter-in-law Jessica
Egge of Minot, ND,
grandchildren Nikolai
Verbitsky, Kathryn
(Diego) Carvajal, Karena
Verbitsky, Zion Heaven,
Raquel Egge, and Sofia
Egge, sister-in-law Gail
(Rick) Buck.
He was preceded in
death by: his parents, his
infant sister Cheryl, and
his son Darin.
Memorial services will
be held in Lakeland, FL
on Tuesday, February 11
and at a future date in
Minot, ND.
