Allen D. Polsfut

Allen D. Polsfut, 74,

Minot, formerly of Max,

ND died Friday, February

7, 2020 in a Minot hospi-

tal.

Allen was born April

13, 1945 in Minot, ND to

Leo and Gerda (Krueger)

Polsfut. He grew up on

the farm located 6 miles

SE of Max. He graduated

from Max High School in

1963.

Allen served his coun-

try honorably in the U.S.

Army. Allen enlisted in

the U.S. Army in 1963

and was honorably

discharged from the U.S.

Army Reserves in 1969.

Allen married the love

of his life, Judy Wahl, on

April 18, 1966. This union

was blessed with five chil-

dren. They lived on the

family farm, where he ran

a dairy operation for the

next 20 years and farmed

small grains. In 1989, Al-

len and Judy constructed

and opened the Centenni-al Cafe Economart and

Lounge in Max. The busi-

ness was operated by

members of the Polsfut

family until 1996. Allen

later married Sharon Witt-

man in March of 1995.

They spent 17 years to-

gether.

Allen’s love of the out-

doors was unmatched.

Hunting and fishing were

part of his daily life for

many years. Allen owned

and operated a hobby elk

farm for many years

named Glacier Ridge, a

tribute to the origin of the

Polsfut family farm.

He was a member of

Our Savior Lutheran

Church in Minot. Allen

supported Pheasants for

the Future, Rocky Moun-

tain Elk Foundation and

was a lifetime member of

the National Rifle Associ-

ation.

Allen is survived by:

his children Kim Valgren,

Minot, Chad (Patricia)

Polsfut, Bismarck, Carma

(Pete) McLaughlin, Minot,

Shanon (Elaine) Polsfut,

Minot and Paul (Heather)

Polsfut, Minot; thirteen

grandchildren; nine

great-grandchildren; sis-

ters Lorraine (Marvin)

Berg, Ruso, Betty (Wilbur)

Root, Great Bend, KS and

Diane (Don) Kihn, Ells-

worth, KS and many

nieces and nephews.

Allen was preceded in

death by: his parents and

nephew, David Brewer Jr.

The family of Allen

Polsfut would like to ex-

press their sincere grati-

tude to the caring staff of

Edgewood in Minot,

where he spent the

remaining years of his

life. Allen left a lasting

impression to anyone who

knew him.

Celebration of Allen’s

Life: 11:00 a.m. Thursday,

February 13, 2020 at Our

Savior Lutheran Church,

Minot.

Interment: Sunset

Memorial Gardens, Minot.

Visitation will be held

one hour prior to the start

of the service at the

church.

Memorials are preferred

to the National Wildlife

Federation.
