Kriese, 91, died on Janu-
ary 8, 2020 at Sage West
Health Care in Lander,
WY.
Phyllis was born on
April 3, 1928 to Joseph
and Ruth (Olson) Feist.
She grew up in Velva, ND
with her six siblings. She
attended schools in Velva
and then enrolled at
Minot State Teachers Col-
lege earning her degree in
education. In 1949,
Phyllis married Glendon
Kriese. They had two
children, Joan and Diane.
They divorced in 1983.
She earned her master’s
degree in English from
Greeley State Teacher’s
College. Throughout her
career, she taught all
grades and shared her
knowledge with children
in North Dakota, Panama,
California and Wyoming.
Her career spanned 40
years and impacted the
lives of so many. Her fi-
nal years in teaching, be-
fore retiring in 1988, were
at Ft. Laramie-Lingle Mid-
dle School where she
taught English. She truly
enjoyed her teaching
years in Ft. Laramie with
the wonderful colleagues
she had who became her
treasured friends.
Phyllis enjoyed a full
and long retirement. She
lived in Ft. Laramie until
she moved to Torrington
in 1992. She had many
adventures travelling in
the United States and
abroad. She was a
wonderful gardener and
raised bountiful veget-
ables and beautiful
flowers. She was a
member of the Goshen
County Master Gardners.
She played bridge often
and enjoyed her time with
a couple of bridge groups
– with women who were
wonderful friends to her.
She loved to read and
hosted a book discussion
group at her home for
many years. She was a
member of the Communi-ty Hospital Auxiliary and
enjoyed tending the rose
garden. In 2013 she left
Torrington to live near her
daughter, Diane.
She is survived by her
daughter Diane (Jim)
DeLozier of Lander; sister,
Ramona Cain, North Las
Vegas, NV; brothers Neal
(Virginia) Feist, Velva,
ND; Eugene (Mary) Feist,
Prescott Valley, AZ;
Donovan (Annette) Feist,
St. George, UT; and Curtis
(Bonnie) Feist, Velva, ND;
and numerous nieces and
nephews. She was pre-
ceded in death by her
daughter, Joan Kriese; sis-
ter, Marcella Ramsbacher;
parents, Joseph and Ruth
Feist.
Graveside services in
Ft. Laramie, WY will take
place in the Spring.
