Lena M. Voeller, 93,

Minot, passed away on

Friday, January 3, 2020, in

a Minot hospital.

Magdalena “Lena” Mary

Volk was born on January

4, 1926, a daughter of

Thomas and Elizabeth

(Jacenwice) Volk on the

family farm south of

Karlsruhe, ND. She was

raised and educated in

Karlsruhe.

On June 19, 1946, Lena

was united in marriage to

Rochus “Roy” Voeller in

Karlsruhe. Together they

had seven children. They

made their home and

farmed near Esmond, ND,

before moving to Velva,

ND. In 1963, the family

moved to Minot, ND,

where Lena worked in the

kitchen of several restau-

rants over the years and

also cleaned homes. She

was a day activity director

for the Minot Vocational

Workshop for over 10

years. She was a safe

house host for the Minot

Domestic Violence Crisis

Center for 10 years. She

provided in-home elderly

care for many years and

volunteered as an activity

aide at Trinity Nursing

Home. Roy passed away

on October 2, 2008. Lena

continued to reside in

Minot.

Lena enjoyed playing

bingo, all card games

especially pinochle, gar-

dening, camping, cooking,

crocheting and sewing.

She was a member of St.

Leo the Great Catholic

Church for over 60 years

and was active with the

Confraternity of Christian

Mothers and a member of

the St. Margaret’s Guild.

She also served on their

funeral host committee.

She was a member of the

Moose Lodge Auxiliary

and the Eagles Aerie Aux-

iliary.

Lena is survived by:

Two daughters, Carol

(Leonard) Volk, Fargo and

Jeannette (John) Mars-

land, Colorado Springs,

CO; one son, Randy (Lisa)

Voeller, Minot;

daughter-in-law, Brenda

Voeller, Bismarck; thir-

teen grandchildren, fif-

teen great-grandchildren;

one brother, Frank (Kath-

erine) Volk, Rugby, ND;

and a brother-in-law,

Chris Koble, Rugby, ND.

Several nieces, nephews

and cousins also survive.

She was preceded in

death by: her parents;

husband; four sons, Vic-

tor, Frank, Don and Ken; a

grandson, Shannon Voell-

er; siblings, Joe, Thomas,

John, Steve, Nick, Tony,

Frank, Margaret, Betty

and Veronica.

January 7, 2020 from 4

until 7 pm at

Thompson-Larson Fun-

eral Home, Minot.
