Judy R. Huus, 81,

Minot, died Sunday, Janu-

ary 5, 2020 in a Minot

nursing home.

Judy was born August

17, 1938 in Minot, ND to

Adolph and Hazel (Klim-

pel) Schmidt. She attend-

ed school in the Sawyer

area and graduated from

Sawyer High School in

1956. Judy continued her

education at Minot State

Teacher’s College, where

she earned a rural teach-

ing certificate.

Judy spent the first

three years of her teaching

career in country schools

in and around Ward

County and Max, ND.

Judy married Ordean

Huus August 7, 1959 in

Minot. They made their

home in Minot and were

blessed with the birth of

three sons. Judy joined

the Minot Public School

system in 1977 as a Li-

brarian for Bel Air School.

She retired from her po-

sition in 1991.

moved to Wall Lake near

Fergus Falls, MN in 1991

after retirement. At the

lake, many wonderful

memories were made. As

grandpa and grandma,

they made a special point

of arranging for the

grandkids and friends to

stay with them for a cou-

ple weeks every summer.

Many memories were

made through water ski-

ing, motorcycling, swim-

ming, fishing, shopping,

amusement parks, and

late night card games.

During that same period

they cared for Judy’s

mother Hazel until her

passing in 2001. They re-

turned to Minot in 2005.

Judy was a member of

Zion Lutheran Church of

Minot. She enjoyed read-

ing, traveling and blessed

many with her talents in

the kitchen cooking and

baking. Judy was devoted

to her family and treas-

ured the summers spent

with her grandchildren

and great-grandchildren.

She will be deeply missed

by all who were blessed to

share in her life.

Judy is survived by her

loving husband of 60

years, Ordean, Minot;

sons Curtis (Bev) Huus,

Rapid City, SD / Watford

City, ND, Terry (Cindy)

Huus, Watertown, SD,

and Wade (Becky) Huus,

Minot, ND; grandchildren

Natasha (Kara & Boone)

Brewer, Ft. Collins, CO,

Brandon Huus, Minneap-

olis, MN, Trisha Huus, Ti-

gard, OR, Carlee (Derrick)

Davis, Watertown, SD,

Abigail, Sophia, Seth,

Maxwell and Amelia

Huus, all of Minot;

great-grandchildren Al-

lyssa, Aiden, and Eva

Brewer along with

numerous nieces,

nephews and cousins.

Judy was preceded in

death by her parents, sis-

ter Bonnie Finkbeiner,

brothers Ardell and Rod-

nie Schmidt,

sisters-in-law Billie

Schmidt and LaVerne

Johnson, and

brother-in-law Norman

Finkbeiner.

Celebration of Judy’s

Life: 2:00 p.m. Friday,

January 10, 2020 at Zion

Lutheran Church, Minot.

Interment: Rosehill

Memorial Park, Minot.

Visitation: Thursday,

January 9, 2020 from 3:00

p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the

Thomas Family Funeral

Home, Minot.

Memorials are pre-

Church.
