Harold DeWayne Trett
(Curly), 96, Minot, form-
erly of Oakes, ND, died,
Tuesday, January 7, 2020
in a Minot Nursing Home.
Harold was born Sep-
tember 26, 1923 at Elliott,
North Dakota, the son of
Wilbur and Ethel (Lind-
berg) Trett. He was raised
and educated at Lisbon,
Texas and Oakes, North
Dakota, where he graduat-ed from Oakes High
school in 1931. He attend-ed business college in Far-
go for a year, prior to
working for Phillip and
Son’s and Tennefos Con-
struction. He was once
married to Gertrude Ten-
nefos.
Harold was united in
marriage to Jane M. Lang
on May 15, 1954 in
McClusky, ND. They lived
in North Dakota and
South Dakota, while he
worked road construction
for 25 years for Tennefos
Construction. They lived
in West Fargo until 1974,
when they purchased a
resort on White Earth
Lake near Waubun, MN
and later owned Curly’s
Corner. Operating the bar
there for seven years until
they moved to Detroit
Lakes, MN, where they
managed apartment build-
ings, condos and storage
units until retiring in
1983. They moved to
Minot in 2009 to be closer
to family. Jane died De-
cember 11, 2010.
Harold was a member
of the Methodist Faith and
the Detroit Lakes Eagles
Club. He enjoyed fishing
and hunting.
Harold is survived by
his children, Marty (Sher-
ry) Trett, Minot, Blair
(Danette) Trett, Chandler,
AZ and Susan Dennis,
Omaha, NE; 11 grandchil-dren and 8 great
grandchildren.
Harold was preceded
in death by his parents;
wife, Jane; sons, Michael
and Terrance; along with
his brothers, Marty and
Richard and a sister, Boni-
ta.

January 10, 2020 at the
Thomas Family Funeral
Home, Minot.
Interment: Sunset
