Robert Arthur “Bob” Landon
Aug. 17, 1919 – Nov. 16, 2019
Robert Arthur “Bob”
Landon, 100, Minot, form-
erly of Ryder, ND, passed
away Saturday, November
16, 2019 at a Minot nurs-
ing facility.
Bob was born on Au-
gust 17, 1919 to Arthur
and Lottie (Colburn) Lan-
don on the family farm
southwest of Ryder, ND.
He had two brothers and
two sisters. He attended
elementary school at Hid-
denwood, Gate Township
in McLean County. He
was a member of the
Ryder Presbyterian
Church and also attended
Sunday school at the Hid-
denwood Church.
Bob lived and worked
on the family farm most
of his life. He began work-
ing the soil with horses at
a very young age. As he
grew older, he was able to
till the land with tractors.
Bob enjoyed music and
working on crossword
puzzles.
Bob liked to dance and
it was at a dance that he
met Doris Price of Doug-
las, ND. They were mar-
ried on June 3, 1951 at the
Lutheran church
southwest of Douglas.
They lived on the original
Landon farm and raised
grains, cattle, sheep, pigs
and chickens. They had
one son, Gregory Mark.
Throughout the years,
Bob served as treasurer of
the Hiddenwood School
Board, clerk of the town-
ship board, credit union
board, Hiddenwood Old
Settlers Association and
was a member of the Pres-
byterian Church board.
He was active in com-
munity affairs, especially
the Hiddenwood Old
Settlers Picnic.
Since both Bob and
Doris enjoyed music and
dancing, they spent a con-
siderable amount of time
dancing for entertain-
ment. He also belonged to
a bowling league in
Parshall for a time.
Bob always had a sense
of humor. He and Doris
enjoyed working together
throughout their life.
When Bob retired, his
son, Greg returned home
from Denver, CO and took
over the farming opera-
tions.
As time passed, Bob’s
health began to
deteriorate; therefore Bob
and Doris moved to Minot
to be closer to the doctors.
Bob and Doris were
very proud of their son,
daughter-in-law and three
grandchildren.
He is survived by his
wife of 68 years, Doris
Landon; son, Gregory
(Cathy); grandchildren,
Justin, Jeremiah and Chel-
sey (Christian); and many
nieces and nephews.
Robert was preceded in
death by his parents and
brothers, James and Dale.
