Norris Heskin

Norris Heskin, 89,

Minot and former long-

time Norwich area farmer

died on Saturday, No-

vember 2, 2019 in a Minot

assisted living facility.

His loving family was at

his side.

Norris Herbert Heskin

was born on August 2,

1930 in Minot to Benton

and Iva (Finneseth) Hes-

kin. He was raised and at-

tended school in Norwich

and graduated from Minot

High School in 1949.

After graduation he began

farming and worked as a

journeyman carpenter.

Norris was drafted into

the U.S. Army in 1956

and served until his

honorable discharge in

1958.

While Norris was sta-

tioned at Fort Lewis, WA,

he met Thelma Nelson, a

student at Pacific Luth-

eran College in Tacoma,

WA. They were married

on November 29, 1958 at

Our Savior’s Lutheran

Church in Anaconda, MT.

They made their home on

a farm near Norwich,

where they raised small

grains and cattle. They

were the proud parents of

three sons. Thelma died

on December 30, 2002.

Norris continued to make

his home on the farm un-

til he moved to Minot in

2003. Most recently, he

had been a resident of

Edgewood Vista.

Norris was a lifetime

member of the Norwich

Lutheran Church where

he was very active serving

in several capacities from

council member to vari-

ous remodeling projects

as well as caretaker for the

Norwich Lutheran Ceme-

tery. He also served on

the Surrey School Board

and North Prairie Rural

Water Board. He enjoyed

hunting, fishing, skiing

and woodworking. He

especially enjoyed being

able to spend time with

his family and friends.

Lowell Heskin of rural

Norwich; grandchildren:

Sarah Heskin, Marshall

Heskin, Troy (Heidi)

Thorson and Marisa

(Gabe) Merritt; great

grandchildren: Henry,

Charlie and Rylan Thor-

son and Dash and Jersey

Merritt; brother: Roger

(Emily) Heskin of Federal

Way, WA along with

several nieces, nephews

and cousins.

Norris was preceded in

death by his parents, wife

and brother: Alvin (Don-

na) Heskin.

Celebration of the Life

of Norris Heskin: Mon-

day, November 11, 2019

at 11:00 a.m. in the

Norwich Lutheran

Church.

Interment will be in the

Norwich Lutheran Ceme-

tery – rural Norwich.

Visitation: Sunday

from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00

p.m. in Thomas Family

Funeral Home – Minot.

Memorials are pre-

ferred to the Norwich

Lutheran Cemetery or to

an organization of the

donor’s choice.
