Doris Anna Hiller, 89,

of Desoto, Texas, formerly

of Honolulu, Hawaii, Glen

Ullin and Granville, died

November 5, 2019, peace-

fully at home with family

surrounding her.

Doris was born March

14, 1930, in Egg Creek

(McHenry County), to

Stener and Anna (John-

son) Hillerud. She was

reared on the family farm

south of Norwich and gra-

duated from Granville

High School. Doris mar-

ried Homer Hiller on Oc-

tober. 26, 1948, at the Hil-

lerud family farm near

Norwich. They made their

home in Granville, where

she worked three jobs at

the local Post Office,

secretary at Granville

High School, and assisted

Homer at the Velva Ex-

change Bank in Granville.

The family moved to El-

gin in 1963, where Doris

worked at the County

Welfare Office in Carson.

They then moved to Deer

River, MN, where she

worked at Swanson Chev-

rolet. They then moved to

Randall, MN. She and Ho-

mer then moved back

home to North Dakota to

Velva for a short time.

Their last residence to-

gether was for 36 years in

Glen Ullin. She and Ho-

mer worked in the bank

and insurance business.

She drove a 1966 Mustang

for several years, which

became her pride and joy.

In 2012, Doris moved to

Honolulu, Hawaii to live

with her son Terry Lee

Hiller. Recently, the fami-

ly had moved to Desoto,

Texas, in August 2019. In

Glen Ullin, Doris was a

member of the Zion Luth-

eran Church, Lioness

Club, and member of the

Eastern Star. She enjoyed

baking, loved shopping,

dancing and playing cards

with friends. She also

loved to travel; some of

the memorable places

were Norway (tracing her

family heritage), Branson,

MO, and a few visits to

Hawaii before moving

there. In recent years, she

visited Chicago, New York

City, New Jersey, Couer

D’Alene, ID; San Antonio,

Houston and Dallas, Tex-

as (before moving there).

Doris’ loving family in-

cludes: her sons, Terry

Hiller, Desoto, Texas

(formerly of Honolulu),

and Greg (Anne) Hiller of

San Antonio; grandchil-

dren, Payton and Preston

Hiller; sister, Shirley

(Harold) Harmon of

Minot; brother, Stan Hil-

lerud, Velva; sister-

in-law, Ardelle (Hiller)

Hillerud; and several

nieces, nephews and

cousins.

Doris was preceded in

death by her parents,

Anna and Stener; hus-

band of 61 years, Homer

Hiller, daughter Vickie;

sister, Gwen Skarstad;

and brother, Stener

(“Short”) Hillerud.

Services will be held at

10:00 a.m. Saturday, No-

vember 16, at First Luth-

eran Church, Granville.

Burial will be at the Gran-

ville Community Ceme-

tery following the funeral.

Visitation will be held

from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00

p.m. Friday, November

15th, at Thomas Family

Funeral Home, Minot.

In lieu of flowers and

plants memorials are pre-

ferred to the First Luth-

eran Church of Granville,

ND.
