Dale Martinson

66, Minot, formerly of

Velva, died Wednesday,

November 13, 2019 in a

Minot hospital.

Dale was born No-

vember 3, 1953, the son of

Albert and Ina (Knutson)

Martinson. He was raised

and educated in the Velva

area, graduating from Vel-

va High School.

After graduation he be-

gan his life work in con-

struction. He was em-

ployed by local contrac-

tors including North Star

Steel and Mattson Con-

struction. He was a long-

time member of the Car-

penters Union. He retired

in 2019 due to ill health.

Although he never mar-

ried, his special friend

Wanda Olson and her

children, Jesse and Melis-

sa, became his family.

Wanda passed away Janu-

ary 22, 2018

Strong faith was a very

important part of Dale’s

life. He and his whole

family were baptized to-

gether in the Oak Valley

Lutheran Church in May

1956.

He was loved by all

who knew him and his

hearty laugh. He loved

the outdoors and would

hunt and fish at every op-

portunity. His favorite

fishing hole was Audu-

bon. He always seemed to

catch fish, just like his

dad.

He is survived by: si-

blings, Vernon,

Columbus, NE, Todd

(Paula), Garrison, ND,

Carole Peterson, Janet

Hazel, Lois Larson all of

Velva, Connie (Dave)

Coalwell of Detroit Lakes,

MN; Children; Jesse Olson

and Melissa Olson, Minot,

ND; Grandchildren: Hay-

den, Colton, Kelsey and

Brody; several nieces,

nephews and cousins.

Dale was preceded in

death by: his parents.

Visitation: Monday, No-

vember 18, 2019, 5-7pm at

the Thompson-Larson

Funeral Home, Velva.

Funeral Service, Tues-

day, November 19, 2019

10 am at Oak Valley Luth-

eran Church, Velva.

Burial: 12:15 p.m. Vel-

va Community Cemetery.
