Curtis Luchsinger, 83,

Minot and longtime

Surrey area farmer died

from cancer on Wednes-

day, November 6, 2019 at

a Minot assisted living fa-

cility with his loving fam-

ily at his side.

Lloyd Curtis Luchsinger

was born on October 28,

1936 in Surrey, ND to

Milo Earl and Lillian Ruth

(Witham) Luchsinger. He

was raised on a farm

south of Surrey in Surrey

Township of Ward Coun-

ty, attended school in

Surrey and graduated

from Surrey High School

in 1954. As a young adult

he was employed at Gavin

Yard, Warner Construc-

tion and Behm’s Propane

to supplement his farm-

ing.

Curtis married Jill Dic-

kinson on November 9,

1957 at St. Leo’s Catholic

Church in Minot. They

made their home on a

farm in Surrey Township

of Ward County north of

Surrey where they raised

small grains and sun-

flowers. He was known

for trying and using pro-

gressive techniques and

methods in the world of

agriculture. His career in

farming spanned over 40

years prior to his retire-

ment in 1995. Curt and

Jill moved to Minot in

2004.

Curtis was a past

president and member of

the Surrey Township

Board, Surrey School

Board, Ward County

School Board, Surrey

School P.T.A. and Ward

County Tax Equalization

Board. He served as a

Ward County Commis-

sioner and was Ward

County Farmer of the Year

in 1963. He was a member

of St. Leo’s Catholic

Church where he served

as an usher and member

of the Holy Name Society

and was also a member of

the Elk’s Lodge, Eagles

Aerie, Moose Lodge and

the Board of Directors of

the North Dakota Rodeo

Hall of Fame.

Curtis’ loving family in-

cludes: his wife of 61

years, Jill; children: Loree

Lovdahl of Phoenix, Jan

Luchsinger of Minot and

Melisa Healy of Utah;

grandchildren: Lanna

Lovdahl, Meghan Healy,

Lacie, Savana, Dakota,

and Madison Luchsinger

and Lane Johnson;

great-grandchildren:

Skylynn and Lakin & si-

blings: Milton (Deanna),

Burton, Ken and Leone

Brusven; brother- in-law

Keith (Linda) Dickinson;

sister-in-law: Lois Luchs-

inger and numerous

nieces, nephews and

cousins.

Curtis was preceded in

death by: his parents; si-

blings: Paul and Don

Luchsinger, Marilyn

Butler; sister-in-law, Au-

drey Dickinson; and

brothers-in-law Dale

Brusven and Gene Dickin-

son.
