L. LeRoy Peterson

June 10, 1942-Oct. 6, 2019

L. LeRoy Peterson, 77,

longtime Ryder, ND farm-

er and rancher, died Sun-

day, October 6, 2019 in a

Bismarck hospital.

Lynn LeRoy was born

June 10, 1942 in Minot,

ND to Lynn and Gladys

(Glaholt) Peterson. He at-

tended Anna Township

country school in Ward

County and graduated

from Ryder High School

in 1960.

LeRoy joined the work-

ing world as a surveyor of

missile sites in the early

1960’s. He served his

country honorably in the

US Army Reserves from

1964 to 1970.

LeRoy was joined in

marriage to Sandra Morris

on November 27, 1965 at

the Presbyterian Church

in Ryder. They lived on

the Peterson family home-

stead located north of

Ryder. LeRoy was proud

to be the third generation

of Petersons to work the

land and raise livestock.

In his early working days,

LeRoy held positions at

Farmers Union Elevator

and at Ted’s Garage in the

parts department.

LeRoy was a member of

Calvary Presbyterian

Church of Ryder, where

he also served as an elder.

He was a founding

member of the Ryder Jay-

cees and took great pride

in his community. He en-

joyed playing pool, doing

crossword puzzles, play-

ing cribbage with his kids

or a quick game of

‘racehorse’ with family

and friends. His quick wit

and endless knowledge

during trivia nights will

be forever missed. He en-

joyed the outdoors, was a

crack-shot while hunting

and loved to participate in

family fishing tourna-

ments out of Deep Water

Bay on Lake Sakakawea.

The family cabin was a

source of relaxation and

family memories that will

be cherished forever.

LeRoy is survived by:

his loving wife of 54

years, Sandra, Ryder, ND;

children Deanna and Bob

Reikow, Bismarck, ND,

David and Cindy Peter-

son, Ryder, ND and Caro-

lyn and Kevin Munns,

Bismarck, ND; grandchil-

dren Blake and Marshall

Reikow, Megan and Jim

Munns;

great-granddaughter

Addison Dirk; brother

Dennis and Mary Peter-

son, Minot, ND; sister

DelRaye and Terry Johan-

sen, Ryder, ND;

father-in-law Don Morris,

Mandan, ND;

sisters-in-law Phyllis

Morris of South Dakota

and Donette and Kent

Strange of Colorado;

brothers-in-law Steve and

Marge Morris of Louisiana

and Ronald and Chong

Morris of Montana along

with numerous nieces,

nephews and cousins.

LeRoy was preceded in

death by: his parents,

mother-in-law Ardys

Morris and brother-in-law

Randy Morris.

October 10, 2019 at Cal-

vary Church in Ryder,

ND.

church.

Graveside Service: 1:00

p.m. Friday, October 11,

2019 at the North Dakota

Veteran’s Cemetery, Man-

dan, ND.
