Mildred Bartsch, 75,
Velva, formerly of Minot
and Bergen, died Thurs-
day, September 12, 2019,
at Souris Valley Care
Center in Velva, ND, fol-
lowing a courageous bat-
tle with dementia.
Mildred A. Wald was
born February 17, 1944, a
daughter of Ambrose and
Kathryn (Feist) Wald in
Minot, ND. She was
raised and educated in
Karlsruhe, ND, attending
the parochial school and
graduating from Karlsruhe
High School in 1962.
On September 15, 1962,
Mildred was united in
marriage to Charles
Bartsch in Karlsruhe.
They made their home on
the Bartsch Family farm
near Bergen, where they
would reside for the next
43 years. Mildred worked
at the Velva Public School
as a custodian, at Weight
Watchers in Minot, and
the McHenry County Soil
Conservation in Velva.
She also was the head
housekeeper for the Saint
Cecilia Rectory in Velva.
Mildred’s faith was very
important to her. She was
a former member of St.
Joseph Catholic Church,
Balfour, St. John the
Apostle Catholic Church,
Minot, and a member of
St. Cecilia Catholic
Church, Velva, ND, where
she was active with the
Christian Mothers, served
as a CCD teacher, and as-
sisted with coordinating
several church activities.
She enjoyed crossword
puzzles, reading, baking,
spending time with family
and attending the
grandchildren’s events.
Mildred is survived by:

Alexis Bartsch, Preston,
Julia and Colter Bartsch;
One great-grandchild:

Mildred was preceded
in death by her parents, a
son Dr. Brent P. Bartsch,
siblings Valerie Wald,
Tim Wald, and Patrick
Wald, in-laws Elmer
Engelhard, Carl Anderson,
Richard Bartsch, and Mar-
vin Miller.
Visitation: Sunday,
September 15, from 6:00
pm until 7 pm at St. Ceci-
lia Catholic Church, Velva
