Mary Lesteberg

Mary Olive Lesteberg,

76, Velva, formerly of Vol-

taire, died Wednesday,

September 18, 2019 in a

Minot Hospital.

Mary was born July 28,

1943 at Watertown, SD

the daughter of Lester and

Mauriece (Gapp)

Southwick. She was

raised and educated at

Stockholm, SD in Grant

County, where she attend-ed schools and graduated

from South Shore High

School in 1961.

She was active in music

activities in school and

church and enjoyed riding

and showing horses dur-

ing her younger years,

along with helping with

the family trucking opera-

tion. She graduated from

Granite Falls, MN Techni-

cal Institute and held a

secretarial position at St.

Cloud State University in

Minnesota.

Mary was united in

marriage to LeRoy

Lesteberg on June 9, 1973

at Velva. They made their

home on a farm in Vol-

taire Township, south of

Voltaire, where they

farmed and ranched

throughout the years.

Mary enjoyed the out-

doors, along with helping

with the farming and

ranching operation. They

retired to the Lesteberg

family farm in 2006.

Mary was a member of

Hjerdal Lutheran Church

until it closed in 2011.

She then transferred her

membership to Oak Val-

ley Lutheran In Velva.

She and LeRoy enjoyed

fishing, hunting, camping

and gardening together

throughout the years.

Mary is survived by:

her loving husband of 46

years, LeRoy Lesteberg of

Velva; brother, Clayton

(Anella) Southwick, Rapid

City, SD; sister, Ardis

(Donald) Cook, Galesburg,

MI; several nieces,

nephews and cousins,

godchildren and a host of

friends.

Mary was preceded in

death by: her parents,

brother, Keith and her

grandparents.

vice: Tuesday, September

24, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in

Oak Valley Lutheran

Church, Velva.

Interment: Velva Com-

munity Cemetery, Velva.

Visitation: Monday,

September 23rd from 4:00

– 7:00 p.m. in Oak Valley

Lutheran Church, Velva.
