Lena Fettig, 104, Har-

vey, ND died on Saturday,

September 7, 2019 at the

St. Aloisius Nursing

Home in Harvey, ND.

Funeral services will be

held at 10:30 a.m. on

Wednesday, September

11, 2019 at St. Anthony’s

Catholic Church, Selz,

ND. Visitation will be

from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. with

a Rosary Prayer service at

7 p.m. on Tuesday at

Hertz Funeral Home, Har-

vey, ND. Burial will be in

the church cemetery.

Lena was born on Sep-

tember 30, 1914 to Phillip

and Margaret (Voeller)

Keller. Lena grew up on a

farm near Selz, ND along

with 6 siblings. She at-

tended and received her

education at a local coun-

try school. As a young

woman she cared for the

children of local families.

Lena married Ludwig Fet-

tig Jr. on March 29, 1937

at St. Anthony’s Catholic

Church in Selz. Lena was

a devoted wife and moth-

er. She worked from sun-

up to sundown to ensure

the farm was running

smoothly and her chil-

dren were taken care of.

She milked cows, worked

in the field, mended

clothes, gardened, canned

food, cooked, baked,

helped with fall butcher-

ing and made sausage.

Lena had a sense of

humor, was gracious and

kind to all. She cooked

many meals for relatives,

friends and neighbors.

Her kitchen and heart

were always open to those

who came to visit. Lena

belonged to the St.

Anthony’s Catholic

Church, Catholic Order of

Foresters and Christian

Mothers, all of Selz.

her heart and home to 3

grandchildren for 5 years.

Lena has 43 grandchil-

dren, 71

great-grandchildren; 11

great-great-grandchildren.

Lena was preceded in

death by: her parents;

husband, Ludwig; 3 in-

fants; grandsons, Mark

Fettig, Kevin Svoboda,

Brian Hatten, son-in-law,

Warren Arndt; sisters, Ka-

tie Schneider, Elizabeth

Heisler and Rose Voeller;

brothers, Pius Keller, Cor-

nelius Keller and Joe P.

Keller.
