Jerald Baker

July 18, 1951-Sept. 18, 2019

Jerald “Jerry” Baker, 68,

Minot, passed away on

Wednesday, September

18, 2019 at his home.

Jerry was born on July

18, 1951, in Minot to

Dwayne and Dora (James)

Baker. He was raised and

educated in the Sawyer

area, graduating from

Sawyer High School in

1970. After graduation,

Jerry served in the U.S.

When Jerry had fin-

ished his service he re-

turned to Minot where for

a time he worked as

glasses repairman for

Walman’s and then as a

mechanic for Speedy Tire

Service. Jerry then decid-

ed to follow in his father’s

footsteps and became the

head custodian for Surrey

Public Schools, who was

their previous custodian.

He would often say that

he learned how to clean

from his father. In addi-

tion, he was also one of

the school’s bus drivers.

He would serve in this

capacity for the next 26

years until his retirement.

He was once married

and out of that union

came his daughters Tina,

Kelly, Crysta, and Megan.

Later on he met the love

of his life, Charlotte

“Char” Hanenberg, and

this union produced a

blended family of one

son, five daughters, and

many grandchildren.

Jerry loved the outdoors

and the time he spent

fishing and camping with

his family. He always kept

himself busy building and

tinkering with various

projects around the

house. Jerry loved his

lawn and made sure that

it was always

well-maintained. Later in

life he adopted bingo as

one of his favorite hob-
