Sandra Karnack, 73,
Minot, ND, died on Satur-
day August 10, 2019, at a
Minot Hospital.
Born on April 11, 1946,
in Donora, PA, Sandie
graduated in 1964 from
Donora High School and
was a student at the Pitts-
burgh Playhouse, where
her path of Dancing and
Theatre Arts began; a path
she would travel for the
majority of her life. Mar-
ried in 1964 to Ronald V.
Karnack, Sr., an Airman
in the USAF. In the 23
years of military life they
shared Sandie ran two
successful bands, was the
Director of After Hours
Players-MAFB, One Step
Ahead Youth Dance
Troupe-MAFB, Wiz-Kids-
MAFB and was involved
in USAF Worldwide
Entertainment, including
SAC Showcase and Tops
in Blue.
In 1980, Ronald Sr. re-
tired from the USAF. The
family stayed in Minot,
where she became the
Resident Director of
Mouse River Players’
Community Theater from
1980-1996. Her accom-
plishments during this
time included MRP Music
Revue, MRP Too!, MRP
“Mini-Mousers”
Children’s Theatre and
the various touring show
units she developed. But
her true joy was helping
to raise and inspire de-
cent, loving People who
were confident and pos-
sessed the skills necessary
to do anything they
strived for. One of her
Theatre students said it
best: “She never accepted
‘I can’t’ but applauded.
She was always ‘Let me
see what I can do with
that.'” She worked so hard
day and night to do what
she loved and worked the
same hours to care for
those she loved.
Sandie’s family was
never limited by relation;
the door to her home and
her heart was ever-open
to anyone day or night.
She was teacher, friend,
mentor, mom, chef, busi-
ness advisor, counselor
and activist.
Sandie was preceded in
death by her husband of
24 years, Ronald V Kar-
nack, Sr.; parents Dorothy
and Ermin Huhra, brother
