July 9, 1921-June 30, 2019

Edna Rovig, 97, passed

away on June 30, 2019 at

Laurel Park Nursing

Home, Stockbridge, Geor-

gia.

Edna Oline Josephine

Farnstrom Rovig was born

in Roseglen, North Dakota

on July 9, 1921, to Ida

(Lee) and Richard

Farnstrom, one of nine

children. Edna was bap-

tized and confirmed in

the Lutheran faith. She at-

tended school in McLean

County, North Dakota up

to 8th grade and later

moved to Minot, North

Dakota where she lived

with her sister.

While living in Minot,

she did various babysit-

ting and housecleaning

jobs and later worked for

Dr. Carr where she met

Merle Rovig. They eloped

to Sidney, Montana on

December 20, 1941. Fol-

lowing their marriage,

they lived on a farm

southwest of Berthold,

North Dakota until Merle

was drafted into the Army

during World War II in

May of 1942. When Merle

was in Europe, Edna lived

in Minot with her

father-in-law.

When Merle returned

home from the Army in

October 1945, they moved

back to the farm and con-

tinued farming there until

1975. They raised their

three children on that

farm. Because of Merle’s

failing health, they need-

ed to leave the farm so

they moved to Miles City,

Montana where Merle had

access to a Veterans Hos-

pital. Merle passed away

in March 1978. Edna con-

tinued living in Miles City

until October 2003 when

she moved to St. Maries,

Idaho to be close to her

daughter, Merna and

son-in-law, Larry. In Sep-

tember 2014, Merna

passed away so she

moved to Jonesboro, GA

to be closer to her

daughter, Gloria and

son-in-law, Gary.

Edna was an avid

quilter, making many

quilts for her children,

grandchildren,

great-grandchildren,

friends and shut-ins. She

was also very proud of her

Norwegian heritage. She

made a total of seven trips

to Norway where she was

able to visit with her dis-

tant relatives.

We also would like to

express our sincere appre-

ciation to the Vitas and

Pruitt Hospice Centers for

the care provided to our

mom.

Edna is survived by:

her son, Myron (Carol) of

Berthold, ND and her

daughter, Gloria (Gary)

Fjeld of McDonough, GA

and son-in-law Larry

Rude of St. Maries, ID; 8

grandchildren, 18

great-grandchildren, 3

great-great-grandchildren,
