Minot, passed away

Wednesday, June 5, 2019

at Trinity Hospital in

Minot.

Wayne was born May

21, 1928 in Barton Coun-

ty, Missouri to William

and Lena (Bowman) Fast.

He was raised on the fam-

ily farm. He attended rur-

al school and Liberal High

School. When he was 16,

he joined a custom com-

bining crew and ended up

staying in Pollock, SD

where he continued his

high school education and

lettered in basketball. Fol-

lowing graduation in

1946, he served in the

Army for 2 years.

Wayne returned to Pol-

lock and married Delma

Joy Olmsted on October 7,

1950. They moved to

Deadwood, SD where he

worked at Homestake gold

mine. They returned to

Pollock where he worked

at the grain elevator. In

1955 the family moved to

Reeder, ND where he

managed the Osborne

McMillan elevator until

1965 when he was pro-

moted to superintendent

and moved to Minot. He

later worked at Gamble

Robinson and in civil ser-

vice at Minot Air Force

Base until his retirement

in 1990.

Wayne and Joy spent

many years camping and

fishing at Lake Saka-

kawea. In 1991 they

bought a cabin at

Brendle’s Bay where they

spent 16 summers. Over

the years Wayne enjoyed

hunting, fishing, bowling,

playing basketball, soft-

ball, pool, and cards in-

cluding whist, cribbage,

and pinochle.

Wayne is survived by:

children, Donna (Jim) Ar-

nott, Surrey; Pat (Paul)

Grossman, Hazen; Ben

(Shelly) Fast, Wilmington,

OH; Linda Adam, Minot;

and Jim Fast, Minot; 13

grandchildren; 19

great-grandchildren; and 2

great-great grandchildren;

and numerous nieces and

nephews.

Wayne was preceded in

death by: his parents; lov-

ing wife of 65 years on

April 30, 2016; son Allan;

eight brothers and three

sisters.

Funeral: Monday, June

10, 2019, at 1:00 p.m. at

Thompson-Larson Fun-

eral Home Chapel, Minot.

Interment: Rosehill

Memorial Park, Minot,

ND.

Visitation: Sunday from

1 to 3 p.m. at

Thompson-Larson Fun-

eral Home, Minot.
