LaVerne Halvorson

LaVerne Halvorson, 72,

Minot, passed away on

June 7, 2019 in his home.

LaVerne Neil Halvorson

was born on August 21,

1946, son of LeRoy and

Clarice (Nelson) Halver-

son in Billings, MT. In

1950, the family moved to

Devils Lake, and later to

Minot, where LaVerne

was raised and educated,

attending Minot Public

Schools.

LaVerne enlisted into

the United States Army

on February 16, 1966. He

proudly served his coun-

try until his honorable

discharge on February 16,

1968.

In March of 1967,

LaVerne was united in

marriage to Vicki

Besserud in Fort Sill, OK.

They made their home in

Minot. To this union two

sons were born Rodney

and Chad. The couple

later divorced.

LaVerne worked for

Charlie’s Country Sausage

cutting meat, and later as

a general mechanic for

Midland Diesel, Tom Car-

son Fuel, and Ole Olson

Towing. He retired due to

health reasons.

He enjoyed riding his

Honda Gold Wing motor-

cycle, spending time in

the outdoors hunting and

fishing, watching racing,

both dirt track and NAS-

CAR and tinkering in his

garage.

LaVerne is survived by:

Two sons: Rod (Kathy Jo)

Halvorson and their chil-

dren Kaden and Rylee;

Chad (Companion Nicki

Fix) and her daughter Hai-

ley; a nephew Wade

(Stephanie) Halvorson

and their daughter Ga-

briella.

LaVerne was preceded

in death by: his parents

and a brother Wayne.
