Jerome Ernest “Jerry”
Henricks, 85, Mohall, died
Friday, June 14, 2019, at a
Mohall nursing home.
He was born Jan. 3,
1934, in Lansford, to Er-
nest and Dorothy
(Richardson) Henricks.
He was raised by his
mother and stepfather,
Ralph Belisle. He gra-
duated from Lansford
High School in 1951 and
from Minot State College
in 1955. As a member of
the men’s basketball team,
he played in the NAIA
Basketball Tournament in
Kansas City. He played in-
dependent and amateur
basketball for several
years. He was named the
most valuable player dur-
ing the 1954 State Ama-
teur Tournament in
Minot. He also played in-
dependent baseball for the
Lansford Blue Devils.
Jerry married Carol
Hoglund on Jan. 21, 1956,
at First Lutheran Church,
Minot. He taught and
coached at Carpio High
School from 1955 to 1957.
He was called into the
U.S. Army in 1957, and
again in 1961. His
daughter, Nancy, was
born in 1958; and his son,
Bruce, was born in 1960.
In 1959, Jerry and Carol
moved to Mohall where
he taught history,
economics, government,
politics and drivers edu-
cation. He also coached
basketball and baseball for
several years. He retired
in 1991 after a 35 year
teaching career.
Jerry was a member of
Zion Lutheran Church,
Mohall, and the George T.
Taylor American Legion
Post #52, Mohall. He en-
joyed hunting, fishing,
basketball and baseball
and gardening. He worked
for area farmers during
his summers off from
school. He was a member
of a trap team at the
Mohall Gun Club and
belonged to Pheasants for
the Future. He was in-
ducted into the Mouse
River Loop Pheasants Hall
of Fame in 2019. He
helped introduce
teenagers to trap shooting
and hunting. Working
with his dogs was his
main joy while hunting.
He enjoyed taking his
children and grandchil-
dren fishing and hunting;
Jerry enjoyed the outdoor
life. After officiating
basketball for many years,
he was inducted into the
North Dakota Officials
Hall of Fame in 1989.

Minn.; son, Bruce (Mar-
garet) Henricks, Leeds,
Ala.; grandchildren, Laura
(Wes) Porter and Katie
Henricks, and Benjamin
and Matthew Sandeen;
great-grandchildren,
Sawyer and Maggie; sis-
ter, Myrna Witty, Fargo;
brothers, Robert (Edna)
Belisle, Lansford, Richard
(Linda) Belisle, Bismarck,
Jim (Joyce) Henricks,
Bismarck; sister-in-law
Beverly Skinner and
several nieces, nephews
and cousins.
Jerry was preceded in
death by: his parents;
sister-in-law, Marlys Dav-
ick; and brothers-in-law,
Don Davick, Vernon Mill-
er and Merlyn “Bud” Wit-
ty.
Funeral: 2 p.m., Fri-
day, June 21, 2019, at
Zion Lutheran Church,
Mohall.

at the church.
