Dean J. Durick
Feb. 27, 1944-June 9, 2019
Dean J. Durick, of
Bowbells, ND, passed
away on Sunday, June 9,
2019 following a nearly
ten year battle with brain
cancer. He was 75.
Dean James Durick was
born on February 27,
1944, to James and Marie
(Powell) Durick in Crosby,
ND. He attended school
through the eighth grade
at St. Agnes Catholic
School in Kenmare then
graduated from Bowbells
High School in 1962.
On June 6, 1962, Dean
enlisted in the United
States Army. He proudly
served his country, receiv-ing the Good Conduct
Medal, Marksman Badge
and Expert Rifle Badge.
He was honorably
discharged on March 16,
1964. Following his
discharge he returned to
Bowbells to pursue his
love of farming and ranch-
ing.
On June 15, 1968, Dean
was united in marriage to
Jean Schoemer in Ken-
mare. They made their
home on the Durick farm-
stead, where they raised
their children, Bradley
and Shelley. Dean loved
farming. He was a driven
man and wanted every-
thing maintained, perfect
and clean. Many did not
realize it but he was a
master mechanic and
could fix or build any-
thing if he wanted to. He
enjoyed working on com-
puters and for many years
flying his 150 Cessna
around the area.
Dean was one who nev-
er wanted to burden any-
one and always put help-
ing others ahead of his
own needs. He was a
life-long member of the
St. Joseph’s Catholic
Church in Bowbells, and
served on the Minnesota
Township board in Burke
