Mae Ludwig, 90,

Minot, ND, passed away

Saturday, May 18, 2019,

at Trinity Homes in

Minot.

Mae Thelma Kvalen

was born July 9, 1928, the

daughter of Frederick and

Ragna (Dahl) Kvalen, in

Grenora, ND. She was

raised and educated in Al-

kabo, ND and graduated

from Westby High School

in Westby, MT, in 1946.

She attended Minot State

Teacher’s College and re-

ceived her Standard

Teaching certificate. She

then taught at country

schools in the Williston

area.

Mae was united in mar-

riage to Morris P. Ludwig

November 10, 1950, in

Williston, ND. They made

their home in Appam,

ND, until moving to the

Kvalen family farm north

of Grenora, where they

farmed for a few years.

They raised their daughter

in Ross, ND, where they

lived for 30 years. Their

retirement years were en-

joyed with family and

friends at Little Knife Bay,

Lake Sakakawea and final-

ly resided in Minot.

Mae’s primary interest

was her love of family and

friends, always tracking

the progress of her

beloved grandchildren.

She and Morris enjoyed

traveling and experienced

many trips. Her other in-

terests were reading,

flower gardening, birds

and politics. Often heard

comments about Mae

were she humbly did

good deeds for others and

she was always there to

help a friend.

She was a member of

Bread of Life Lutheran

Church in Minot.

Her loving family in-

cludes: husband of 68

years, Morris; daughters,

Colette (Jack) Nybakken

and Marla (Tony) Kulig,

all of Minot; grandchil-

dren, Brekka Kramer

(Jonn Knecht), Blake

(Mary) Nybakken, Gabe

(Amanda) Nybakken, An-

thony Kulig (Kelly Smith),

Keli (Matt) Kramer, Gage

(Lisa) Kulig; great-

grandchildren, Haley and

Emma Kramer; Julia, Jack,

Margo and Ward

Nybakken; Klay Kulig;

and Luca Kramer; and

nieces and nephews.

Mae was preceded in

death by her son, Neil

Ludwig; mother, Ragna

Kvalen, father, Fred

(Mable) Kvalen; and

brother, Marvin Dahl.

Memorial Service:

Wednesday, May 22,

2019,at 11:00 a.m. at

Bread of Life Lutheran-

Church, Minot.

A private family Inurn-

ment will take place at a

later date.

Visitation: There will

be no reviewal but friends

may sign the register book

on Wednesday one hour

prior to the service at the

church.

Memorials: are pre-

ferred to go to the Juvenile

Diabetes Research Foun-

dation or donor’s choice

of charity.
