Jeanette E. Johansen,
91, Minot, ND, formerly of
Ryder, ND, passed away
Friday March 1, 2019, in a
Velva, ND Nursing home.
Jeanette and her twin
sister Jeanice were born
on July 23, 1927, the
daughters of Carl and
Gunhild (Iverson) Skogen
in Roseglen, ND. They
were raised on the farm
and attended Deepwater
elementary school near
Roseglen and graduated
from Ryder High School
in 1945.
After Jeanette’s gradua-
tion, she worked at the
elevator in Ryder and
moved to Minot where
she worked at Union Na-
tional Bank and attended
Minot State Teachers Col-
lege.
Jeanette married Russel
Johansen on December 27,
1945 at Bethany Lutheran
Church in Minot. They
made their home in Ryder
Township, Ward County,
near Ryder, ND. They
lived on the farm for 52
years, before moving into
Minot in 1999. Over the
years she worked briefly
as a CNA in Garrison.
She had a stroke in July
of 2009, and Russel took
care of her for a couple of
years before she moved
into Souris Valley Care
Center in 2011.
Jeanette was a member
of Homemakers, Home
Economics Club, Calvary
Presbyterian Church,
Ryder and the ladies aid
group and taught Sunday
school. She was a 4-H
leader and a member of
the Senior Citizens of
Ryder.
Jeanette loved crafts,
ceramics, painting, knit-
ting, crocheting, ma-
crame, sewing, needle
point, quilting, gardening,
flowers, canning, baking,
cooking, crossword puz-
zles, games, reading, and
loved visiting with people
whether friends, family,
or total strangers.

(Mike) Smith, Rachel
(Arthur) Dykxhoorn,
Travis (Carissa) Sorenson
and Marcella (Cody)
Evans; 23 great-grand-
children; twin sister, Jean-
ice Lorraine Peterson Off-
icer (George), Minot, sis-
ters-in-law, Delina Johan-
sen and Le Anna Skogen,
and numerous nieces,
nephews, and cousins.
Jeanette was preceded
in death by her parents,
sisters, Marian (Cliff) Ber-
gan, Grace (John) Hayes,
infant sister, Marcella Lois
Skogen, brothers, Irving
and Carlyle Skogen, great-
grandsons, Zane Lauten-
schlager and John Evano-
sky, son-in-law Tom
Bleeker, brothers-in-law,
Lloyd Peterson, Robert

(Ida) Johansen, Gerald
Johansen and parents-
in-law, William and Lena
(Allen) Johansen.

Jeanette’s Life: Saturday,
March 16, 2018, at 11 a.m.
at Cornerstone Pres-
byterian Church, Minot.
Interment: Rosehill
Cemetery, Ryder, ND, at a
later date.
Visitation: Friday from
5 p.m to 7 p.m. at
Thompson-Larson Fun-
eral Home, Minot.
Memorials: are pre-
ferred to Rosehill
Cemetery, Ryder, Calvary
Church, Ryder, Souris
Valley Care Center, Velva
or the donor’s choice.
