Gene “Jake” Ramsdell,

away Saturday, November
24, 2018, in a Minot, ND
hospital.
Gene Jacob Ramsdell
was born on the home-
stead in rural Norma, ND
on October 21, 1933, to
Zina Aaron and Alice
Marie (Jackson) Ramsdell.
He attended Norma Ele-
mentary School and Nor-
ma high School until the
11th grade. At age 17, he
went to Williston, ND to
work in the oil fields.
After that, he went to
Wyoming to work on the
pipeline, followed by
moving to work on the
Alaskan pipeline.
Jake joined the United
States Navy in 1954 and
served 3.5 years on the
USS Glennon. He re-
ceived his GED while in
the Navy. Following his
honorable discharge, he
returned home and
farmed with his father. He
also worked at a bakery in
Williston during this time.
Jake farmed for many
years in the rural Norma
area with his brother Lar-
ry. He retired from farm-
ing and then drove a taxi
cab in Minot for 3 years.
Jake loved to go fishing
with his friends and fami-
ly at Smishek Lake (aka
Jake’s Lake). He loved to
share stories from the past
about the family and his
time in the Navy. This
past summer, he enjoyed
growing pumpkins for his
great-nephew and great-
nieces. Jake was loved for
his kindness and the care
that he showed toward his
family.

p.m. at Trinity Lutheran-
Church, rural Kenmare,
ND.
Interment: Trinity Luth-
eran Cemetery, rural Ken-
mare, ND.

4 to 7 p.m. at Thompson-
Larson Funeral Home,
Kenmare, ND.
