Dennis Aberle
Dennis Aberle, 76,
formerly of Minot and
Burlington, ND, passed
away at his home in El-
lensburg, WA following a
heroic battle with cancer.
Dennis was born May 10,
1942 in Karlsruhe ND, the
son of Anton “Tony” and
Anna (Feist) Aberle. He
was raised on a farm and
educated in Karlsruhe,
Surrey and Minot.
Dennis was united in
marriage to Kathleen
Neiss of Balta, ND on Oc-
tober 18, 1961.
Dennis served in the
North Dakota Army Na-
tional Guard, where he
was called to Fort Riley,
KS during the Cuban Mis-
sile Crisis.
Dennis was the “D” in
famed B&D Market locat-
ed on 3rd St NE in Minot.
The store was known for
its caramel rolls and meat
department. He and his
brother-in-law, Bennie
Mosser, operated several
grocery stores in Minot
during the mid-1970s and
1980s. Dennis moved his
family to Burlington, ND
in 1974, where they all
became active members of
the community. He also
built a career over 25
years at Boeing working
logistics on the Minute
Man and MX missile sys-
tems around the country
and England until his re-
tirement. After retiring he
and his son Jay operated
the Aberle Cattle Com-
pany raising grass fed beef
in Ellensburg, WA. He
took pride in his ability to
raise 100 calves per year
on less than 100 acres of
land following successful
strategies of grass and wa-
ter management.
Dennis touched the
lives of everyone he knew
