David Geyer

July 29, 1946-Sept. 12, 2018

David Lynn Geyer, a

loving Father, Son, Broth-

er, Uncle, and Friend

passed away at the age of

72 on Wednesday, Sep-

tember 12, 2018 at his

home in Kenmare.

Dave was born on July

29, 1946 in Minot to Lynn

and Julia (Solem) Geyer.

He was raised in the

Donnybrook/Carpio area.

He graduated from Carpio

in 1964. In 1966 he briefly

attended Minot State

University before joining

the US Navy where he

served in the Vietnam

War. He received several

meritorious awards for his

service and was honor-

ably discharged.

After serving our Coun-

try, Dave moved to

Colorado and worked con-

struction. He then re-

turned to Kenmare where

he worked at Peterson

Chevrolet. He also worked

at the Farmers Union Oil

as a “Parts Man” for 40

years until he retired; and

was a part time farmer

during that period.

Dave was united in

marriage to Joan (Acker-

man) Johnson on No-

vember 1, 1982 in Minot.

While they had no chil-

dren together, Dave inher-

ited 5 children from a pre-

vious marriage. They en-

joyed dancing, bowling,

going to the races, and

traveling (even though he

hated flying). Dave’s

favorite place to go was

Hawaii as that is where he

was stationed while he

was in the service. Joan

passed away in 2007.

When Dave was able to be

on the golf course he

would be out there every

day with his golfing crew.

Dave also loved to watch

the Twins, the Vikings,

and NASCAR racing. He

was also an avid movie

watcher.

Dave is survived by: his

children: Brenda (David)

Berntson, Minot, ND,

Peter Johnson, Kenmare,

ND, Shelly (Kent) Auf-

forth, Bowbells, ND,

Johnny (Kathryn) John-

son, Beulah, ND, and

Anna (Mark) Hoffman,

East Grand Forks, MN;

mother Julia Geyer; broth-

ers: Raymond and Eddie

(Cynthia) Geyer; sister

Judy (Kevin) Zietz; six

grandchildren: Shaun

Welsch, Jacob (Carly)

Welsch, Austin Berntson,

Jonathan Johnson, Joel

(Olivia) Johnson and Kay-

lee Johnson; and

numerous nieces,

nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in

death by: his father Lynn,

his wife Joan, and his

brother Jeffrey.

A memorial service

will be held on September

24th, 2018 at 11:00 am at

the Carpio Lutheran

Church in Carpio. Burial

to follow at the St. Agnes

Catholic Cementary in

Kenmare at 1:30pm. Visi-

tation will be one hour

prior to the start of the

service.
