David “Rex” James

David “Rex” James, 81,

Minot, died Tuesday, July

17, 2018 at his residence.

David “Rex” James was

born on September 8,

1936 in Taintor, Iowa to

Lloyd and Blanche

(Roten) James. He was

raised and educated in

Lynnville, Iowa, graduat-

ing from high school in

1955. He attended NW Bi-

ble College for one year in

Minot.

Rex was united in mar-

riage to Maxine Brandt on

August 9, 1957 in Lynn-

ville. Following their mar-

riage, they made their

home in Minot. Rex began

his employment with

Samuelson’s Shoe Store

in Minot in 1957 and re-

tired in 1994 after 37

years of service to the

company. Additionally,

he was employed at

Herslip Construction.

Rex and Maxine en-

joyed their time at their

lake cabin at Strawberry

Lake. He was an active

member of West Minot

Church of God, where he

served on the Church

Council. Rex sang in the

Prairie Gospel Quartet for

24 years and with the No-

dakords for two years. In

his spare time, he enjoyed

spending time outdoors in

the garden, hunting, and

trapping.

Rex’s loving family in-

cludes: wife, Maxine,

Minot; children, Vicki

(Roger) Locklear, Bal-

timore, MD, David James,

Chicago, IL Lisa (Bob)

Franca, Minot, ND; nine

grandchildren; three

great-grandchildren;

brothers, Carl (Kathy)

James and Roy (Dianne)

James, both of Lynnville,

IA.

He was preceded in

death by his parents.

Celebration of Life ser-

vice: Tuesday, July 24,

2018 at 1:00 p.m. in West

Minot Church of God.

Interment: Rosehill

Memorial Park, Minot.

Visitation: Monday,

July 23rd from 3:00-6:00

p.m. in the Thomas Fami-

ly Funeral Home, Minot.
