Fred “Jerry” Falck
August 9, 1950-June 7, 2018
Fred “Jerry” Falck, 67,
passed away on June 7,
2018 in Minot, ND, after a
lengthy and courageous
battle with esophageal
cancer.
Fred Jerome Falck was
born on August 9, 1950 in
Lignite, ND to Fred and
Mabel (Hagen) Falck. He
grew up in a loving family
with one sister, Jane
Falck. He was a hard
worker who helped his
dad diligently on the
farm. When he wasn’t
busy farming, he spent his
time with friends and
practicing for the various
sports he enjoyed. He ex-
celled in every sport that
he played, including
basketball, football and
track, where he still holds
the school’s long jump
record. His family contin-ues to hear stories of his
days in high school and
the talent he showed. Jer-
ry attended college for
mechanical drawing and
after college he was hired
on with Burke Central
School as a janitor.
On December 7, 1974
Jerry was joined in mar-
riage to the love of his
life, Candace Marie Niel-
sen in Columbus, ND at
Trinity Lutheran Church.
They were blessed with
the birth of one daughter,
Tatum Marie Falck, on
July 16, 1976.
Jerry later worked for
the Lignite Gas Processing
Plant for 33 years, until
his retirement in 2013.
Fortunately, while work-
ing at these jobs he also
was able to do the thing
he loved the most, farm.
His love of farming started
at age 8 when he first
learned to drive a tractor.
Jerry and his wife farmed
together for many years
until his health deteriorat-ed. They also found the
time to spend up at their
cabin in Canada with fam-
ily and friends. Jerry was
active both with work and
extracurricular activities.
He loved building things
and was great at carpentry
work. His precise and ac-
curate personality made
him excel in everything
he made. As a kid, he
loved assembling model
airplanes, leather crafting
and drawing. As he got
older, he also took up
bowling and darts.
Jerry was a loving hus-
band, father, grandpa,
son, brother and friend.
Those who knew him well
had so much laughter and
joy brought to them. He
loved to joke and he con-
tinued making jokes and
bringing laughter even in
his last days. He will be
greatly missed and there
will be a piece of our
hearts that he took with
him which will never be
replaced during our time
here on earth. We will be
waving at the heavens and
throwing you kisses forev-
er more.
Surviving family in-
cludes: Jerry leaves
behind his mother, Mabel
Falck; beloved wife of 43
years, Candace Marie
Falck; daughter, Tatum
(Dan) Hovland; 4 precious
grandchildren, Jayda (15),
Elijah (14), Samuel (12)
and Isaac (8); sister, Jane
