Jack Zeltinger

March 5, 1952 – April 16, 2018

KENMARE – Jack Zelt-

inger, 66, Tolley, died

Monday, April 16, 2018,

peacefully in his home.

He was born March 5,

1952, in Kenmare, to Ed-

ward and Eunice (Sjo-

quist) Zeltinger. He was

raised in Tolley and gra-

duated from Tolley High

School in 1970 as

co-salutatorian of his

class. Jack was listed in

the Outstanding

Teenagers of America and

Who’s Who in America.

He attended Minot State

College, studying geology,

for a time.

Jack worked as a bush

cutter for the Soo Line

Railroad for a number of

years, and later on oil rigs

for various oil companies.

He began employment as

a road grader operator for

Renville County in Sept.

of 1994. He retired April

4, 2016. He currently

served as Mayor of Tolley,

an office he’s held since

2006.

Jack was an avid scrap

iron hauler for 40 years.

He loved cleaning up old

farmsteads and was an an-

tique collector, enjoying

flea markets. He was pas-

sionate about beautifying

the town of Tolley; he

mowed several lots,

trimmed trees and gave

various items a fresh coat

of paint to keep things

looking nice. He was very

proud of “Rachel’s Walk,”

a little park in the town of

Tolley that he planted and

named for his daughter.

Jack enjoyed playing

Santa Claus for family and

friends and the Tolley

Senior Citizens Christmas

party for numerous years.

He was most recently and

lovingly known as “Papa

Jack” to his three

grandchildren and

numerous other children

who adored him. His

heart was most full when

spending time with his

family.

Gracelynn and Paige Ed-

wards; brothers, Jerry,

Bert and Mark Zeltinger,

all of Tolley.

Jack was preceded in

death by: infant brothers,

Roger and Anthony;

parents, Edward and Eun-

ice (Sjoquist) Zeltinger;

grandparents, John and

Bernice (Alexander) Sjo-

quist and Ignatius and Ka-

tie (Ethen) Zeltinger.
