Hammer, 98, Minot died

on Tuesday, April 10,

2018 in a Minot nursing

home.

Eleanor was born on

April 28, 1919 in

Columbus, ND to Ole and

Carrie (Ohe) Hovland. She

was reared on the family

farm in Burke County.

She moved to the Upham

area with her family in

1937.

Eleanor married Ronald

“Pat” Hammer on July 1,

1942 in Fargo, ND. They

made their home in Fargo,

ND until Ronald was

drafted into the U.S.

Army. They were sta-

tioned in California and

Texas. As a war bride, she

moved back to the Upham

area living with her

parents until Ronald re-

turned from the Army.

They moved to Minot in

1946 where they have

since resided and raised

their five children.

Eleanor was a fulltime

wife, mother, grandmoth-

er and homemaker, who

will be forever missed and

loved. Ronald was a long-

time Minot Post Office

employee. They recently

celebrated their 75th

Wedding Anniversary.

Ronald died on January 3,

2018.

Eleanor was a member

of the St. Paul’s Lutheran

Church of Minot and its

Lutheran Women’s Mis-

sionary League (LWML) as

well as the Veterans of

Foreign Wars Auxiliary.

She enjoyed cooking, bak-

ing, attending auction

sales, dancing and listen-

ing to Lawrence Welk.

includes her children: Pa-

tricia (Robert) Dzur of

New Braunfels, TX;

Ronald E. (Betty) Hammer

of Petaluma, CA; Rodney

Hammer of Santa Rosa,

CA; Roger Hammer of

Minot and LaDonna (Kel-

ly) Wurgler of Minot;

grandchildren: Robert

(Stephanie) Dzur, Roxann

Dzur, Katrina Hammer,

Jennifer Hammer,

Matthew Wurgler and

Blake (Tensy) Wurgler;

step grandchildren:

Marcus (Cathleen)

Schreier and Jason

Schreier; great grandchil-

dren: Cherry and Micky

Dzur; four step great

grandchildren;

sister-in-law: Ardis Hov-

land of Pelican Rapids,

MN and several nieces

and nephews.

Eleanor was preceded

in death by her parents,

husband, sisters: Hilma

Speer, Ida Evenson, Cora

Anderson, Alice Edwards

and Lida Mogren, broth-

ers: Norbert, Clifford,

Morris, Lloyd and an in-

fant brother, Lloyd M.

Funeral Service: 11:00

a.m. Friday, April 20,

2018 at St. Paul’s Luth-

eran Church – Minot.

Interment will be in

Rosehill Memorial Park –

Minot.

Visitation: Thursday

from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00

p.m. in Thomas Family

Funeral Home – Minot.

eran Church, Minot.
