Douglas Johnson
Dec. 24, 1962-April 11, 2018
Douglas Christopher
Johnson was born Dec.
24th, 1962, in Minot,
North Dakota, to Vivian
Kirkvold and Marlowe
Johnson. Doug was the
youngest of six and al-
ways eager to keep up
with his beloved older si-
blings, Diane, Vicki, Peg-
gy, Marlowe and Kurt.
He became husband to
his love, Judy, and father
to her son, David, in 1984.
The arrival of his son,
Eric, and daughter, Chloe,
completed his family – a
family that remained the
center-point of his life in
the years to follow.
Doug worked 28 years
for the University of Min-
nesota, managing the fi-
nances for different
departments throughout
his tenure. Working for
the University gave him
the opportunity to take
classes and pursue his
passion for learning. One
of Doug’s proudest accom-
plishments was joining
the Hopkins Fire Depart-
ment, where he served for
three years. Doug’s career
achievements enabled
him to provide for his
family, the true source of
passion and joy
throughout his life.
Doug was avid about
the outdoors and loved to
be active. Through camp-
ing trips, bike rides, or lei-
surely walks with the
family dogs, Doug loved
to be on the go with his
family. Doug’s life was
forever changed when he
was diagnosed with rheu-
matoid arthritis, limiting
his ability to do those
things that brought him
such happiness. Even
through this time, as his
physical and mental ener-
gy drained, he would
choose to rest on the
couch to be near the bus-
tle of the family.
Doug was preceded in
death by his beloved
daughter, Nicole.
