Jan. 12, 1941-March 7, 2018

Manville “Manny” Hen-

drickson, Bismarck,

passed away Wednesday,

March 7th, 2018 at the

Baptist Health Care

Center in Bismarck at the

age of 77 following a brief

illness. A memorial ser-

vice will be held 11:00

a.m., Monday March 12,

2018 at Bismarck Funeral

Home. The family will re-

ceive visitors one hour

prior to the service.

Manny was born on

January 12, 1941 on a

farm in Falsen Township

south of Denbigh, ND to

Helen (Nerem) and Harold

Hendrickson. The family

farmed for many years in

the Denbigh area and later

moved to Velva, ND.

Manny graduated from

Velva High School. He en-

tered the Army in 1964

and was stationed in Ger-

many, where he worked

as a mechanic. Following

his discharge from the

Army, Manny married

Janice Diel in Minot, ND

in 1966. The couple

moved to Fargo where

Manny attended and gra-

duated from North Dakota

State University.

Manny and Jan moved

to Hazen, ND in 1977,

where they raised their

three children. Manny

was a long-time employee

of the City of Hazen’s

Parks and Recreation

Department and retired in

2008. Following Janice’s

death in 2008, Manny

married Marlene Fortier

in 2011. Manny and Mar-

lene lived in Bismarck,

ND and Wildrose, ND. He

was a member of the

American Legion in Wil-

drose. Manny worked for

the Wildrose Golf Associ-

ation and Wildrose

Cemetery Association

during the summer

months, continuing his

previous career by mow-

ing grass in many area

cemeteries and the local

golf course.

Manny loved being sur-

rounded by family and he

adored being a grandfa-

ther. He loved cars, the

Minnesota Vikings, the

Minnesota Twins, NDSU

Bison football, playing

cards, watching car races,

listening to country

music, and working puz-

zles of all sorts. Manny

had a curious mind and

was a voracious reader

throughout his life. His

cleverness and skill in

playing pinochle and

answering trivia questions

stayed with him

throughout his illness. He

will be remembered for

his friendly and kind na-

stranger.”
