Winston Rasmusson

Winston Dale “Win”

Rasmusson, 90, of Minot,

ND died on Thursday,

January 25, 2018 at Trini-

ty Hospital in Minot. He

had struggled with Al-

zheimers Disease for the

past ten years and was

surrounded by his loving

family at the time of his

death.

Winston was born on

May 6, 1927 in Roseau,

Minnesota to Rubin and

Stella (Bakkum) Rasmus-

son. Following the death

of his mother, he was

raised in Enderlin by his

aunt and uncle, Cora and

Roy Rasmusson, and he

graduated from Enderlin

High School in 1945.

Winston enlisted in the

U.S. Navy on April 20,

1945. He attended hospi-

tal corps school and was

stationed at the Great

Lakes, San Diego and

Corona, California Navy

bases where he cared for

returning WWII POW’s.

He received the World

War II Victory Medal and

was honorably discharged

on November 22, 1946 at

the U.S. Naval Hospital in

Corona, CA.

Following his discharge

from the Navy, Win re-

turned to North Dakota

and then enrolled at Con-

cordia College in Moor-

head, MN. He graduated

in 1950 with a degree in

Business/Economics and

History. As a young adult,

he was employed at

Western Adjustment and

Inspection Company in

Dickinson, Jamestown

and Grand Forks, ND.

Winston married Shirley

“Jean” Hogan on August

21, 1954 in Jamestown.

They made their home in

Grand Forks where he

continued with Western

Adjustment for four more

years. The family moved

to Minot in 1958, where

Win began employment

with Noble Adjustment

Co., which he purchased

in 1965 and renamed it

Winston-Noble Adjust-

ment Co. He sold the

business to his son, Da-

vid, in 1995, but contin-

ued working with the

company until his retire-

ment in 2004.

Win was a member of St.

John the Apostle Catholic

Church, Chamber of Com-

merce, Elks Lodge, Ex-

change Club, American

Legion, Eagles Aerie, all of

Minot and National Asso-

ciation of Insurance

Adjustors. He especially

enjoyed hunting, fishing,

reading and spending

time with his family and

grandchildren. He was a

dog lover.

step-grandchildren Brad

and Jennie (Joe) Haight

Robert (Kim) Rasmusson,

ley (Roger) Martin (Maver-

ick), Minot, Riley Rasmus

son, Minot; and daughter

Karen (Wayne) Mattoon,

Riverdale, grandchildren

Andrew (Britney) Horst

(Evan, Mitchell, Ryland),

Bismarck, and Kayla

Horst (Brian Bloms),

Minot. Winston is also

survived by many nieces

and nephews.

He was preceded in

death by: his brother,

Rodney Rasmusson

(Helen) of Edina, MN.

Mass of Christian Burial:

11:00 a.m. Monday, Janu-

ary 29, 2018 at St. John

the Apostle Catholic

Church, Minot.

Vigil Prayer Service:

Sunday, January 28, 2018

at 5:00 p.m. at Thomas

Family Funeral Home,

Minot.

Interment: will be in

Rosehill Memorial Park,

Minot.

Visitation: Sunday from

1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in

the funeral home.

Memorials, in lieu of

plants and flowers are

preferred to the Our Lady

of Grace Food Pantry,

Magic City Discovery

Center, or the donor’s

choice.
