Wayne Thompson, 66,
Max, died Sunday, Janu-
ary 21, 2018 at the Garris-
on Hospital. Funeral ser-
vices will be held: on Fri-
day at 10:30 am at St. Ni-
cholas Catholic Church in
Garrison. Burial: will be
at St. Nicholas Cemetery
in Garrison. A rosary will
be said on: Thursday at
6:30 pm at Immaculate
Conception Catholic
Church in Max.
Visitation: will be held
on Thursday from 2 to 6
at the church in Max.
Wayne was born to Al-
len and Mildred (Elser)
Thompson on May 30,
1951 in Minot, ND. He
was raised on the farm
southeast of Max and at-
tended school in Max. He
enlisted in the National
Guard in November of
1969 and served until
1975. Wayne married
Cindy Polsfut on March 3,
1973 at Immaculate Con-
ception Catholic Church
in Max. They were in-
separable for 45 years.
They made their home in
Max where they raised
their 3 children, Jeremy,
Tracy and Angela.
Wayne worked various
construction jobs in the
Max/McLean County area
and farmed his family’s
land until the time of his
illness. He was a farmer
at heart and loved work-
ing his family’s land. He
was also very involved in
the community, including
the Max Fire Dept. from
1977 until the present.
He was also a part of the
Jaycees, Max Civic Club,
and numerous other or-
ganizations. Wayne
joined the Garrison-Max
Ambulance service in
1979 and was an EMT for
15 years and continued to
drive and help out at
much as he could. He
worked at Max Public
Schools for 21 years as
the custodian, and drive
school bus until 2016.
Wayne was a member
of Immaculate Conception
Catholic Church in Max,
and was a member of the
Knights of Columbus.
Wayne especially loved
his 8 grandchildren and
enjoyed watching them
grow up. It was rare that
he missed any event his
children or grandchildren
were involved in, whether
it was basketball, music
concerts, football, or the
ballet. Wayne also en-
joyed camping and spend-
ing time outdoors with his
grandchildren.

his wife Cindy, of 44
years, Jeremy (Karen)
Thompson, all of Max,
ND, Tracy (Jason) Hoke,
and Angela (Matthew)
Voight, all of Bismarck,
ND; grandchildren, Ni-
cholas and Joshua
Thompson, Faith, Eliza-
beth, Benjamin, and An-
drew Hoke, and Noah and
Trevor Voigt; brother,
Gary, Somerset, WI; three
sisters, Sharon (Eugene)
Neiss, Minot, Cynthia
(Thomas) Baker, Temple,
TX, and Patti (Alain)
Gardner, Cibolo, TX;
brother-in-law, Florian
(Rhonda) Mastey, Sartell,
MN; and many nieces,
nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in
death by: his parents, Mil-
dred and Allen Thomp-
son, and his sister, Marian
(Thompson) Mastey.
