Richard “Dick” Duaine
Torgerson, 70, Minot,
passed away on Tuesday,
January 16, 2018 at Trini-

Dick was born on

Given and Erma (Haines)
Torgerson in Minot, North
Dakota. He attended
Minot High School. He
was drafted into the US
Army in July of 1967 and
served as a helicopter
mechanic in Vietnam dur-
ing the Vietnam War. He
returned from the war in
February 1969 and was
honorably discharged.
In 1971, after being set
up on a blind date, he met
the love of his life, Sharon
Steen. They were united
in marriage on April 15,
1972 at Trinity Lutheran
Church in Glenburn, ND
and they made their home
in Surrey and later moved
to Minot. During their 45
years together, they cele-

events, to include the
birth of their two sons,

Grandpa Dick was com-

four grandchildren and
enjoyed every moment he
could spend with them.
In December of 1974,
Dick started his job at

loader and over the years
he became a jack-of-all
trade’s master of none
while being employed
there. The Sweetheart
Bakery in Minot closed in
June of 1999. Dick started
working at Aggregate Con-
struction as a shop assis-
tance in January of 2000
and was employed there
until his retirement in Oc-
tober of 2013.
Dick was fan of NAS-
CAR, classic cars, doing
puzzles to include Su-
doku, crosswords, and
word searches and watch-
ing television in his favor-
ite recliner. He was also a
long-time member of
Hope Lutheran in Surrey,
ND. Dick was known for
his quick-witted
responses, which always
kept people laughing and
on their toes. You knew
you were one of his favor-
