Lillian Bahl
Feb. 5, 1926 – Dec. 26, 2017
MOHALL – Lillian
Elaine Bahl, 91, Mohall,
passed away Tuesday,
Dec. 26, 2017, at the
Mohall nursing home.
Lillian “Lil” was born
Feb. 5, 1926, in Berwick,
to Erick and Evelyn (Op-
pen) Iverson, the only girl
in a family of five broth-
ers. Lil grew up and at-
tended school in the
Berwick area, where she
ended up teaching a few
classes herself due to the
shortage of teachers. Lil
graduated early and went
on to earn a teaching cer-
tificate at Minot Teachers’
College. She then came
back to Berwick where
she taught K-8 in a
one-room schoolhouse, at
the young age of 17.
On June 22, 1945, Lil
married the love of her
life, Clyde Bahl. Together
they lived and farmed in
Grover Township, rural
Sherwood. Lil taught at a
rural school there for a
couple more years before
raising their four sons:
Robert, Curtis, Kent, and
Michael. In 1980, Lil be-
gan working at the Good
Samaritan Nursing Home
in Mohall, where she
would continue to work
both full- and part-time
for 20+ years. Clyde and
Lil moved off the farm
and into Mohall in 1989.
They loved to spend
time with their friends at
the Mouse River Park in
the summer and enjoyed
traveling up and down the
west coast during the
winter months. Clyde
and Lil were married for
62 long and happy years.
Clyde passed in March of
2008. In the fall of 2014,
Lil moved to Somerset
Court Assisted Living in
Minot. In December
2016, Lil then moved back
to Mohall into the same
nursing home where she
had taken care of
residents all those years
ago.
Lil was the do-it-all
farm wife, raising a fami-
ly, helped in the fields,
and a substitute bus
driver for Clyde when
needed. She was the
number one host, whether
you were a friend, family
or a stranger. It made no
difference if you were
visiting her at her home,
the cabin at the park, or
back at the Good Sam, she
always made certain that
you were well-taken care
of and had anything you
might need from the mo-
ment you walked through
the door.
Lil was a strong advo-
cate of the All Faith
Chapel at the Mouse River
Park. She was also a
member of the Mohall
Senior Citizens’ as well as
the Hamerly and Zion
Lutheran churches. She
enjoyed reading, playing
card games, and spending
as much time as she could
with her grandchildren
and great-grandchildren.
She also was able to meet
and spend time with her
great-great granddaughter.
